Reolink's wired WiFi doorbell stands out for fast live view, solid smart home integration, and local recording without a subscription. The feed opens quickly after alerts, streams well on a tablet or TV, and works with Blue Iris, Frigate, Home Assistant, Synology Surveillance Station, and Alexa Show. Installation is straightforward with existing doorbell wiring or a jumper wire for mechanical chimes. The main tradeoffs are the included plug in chime instead of the existing home chime, occasional lag on replays, and weaker night performance or limited vertical coverage for packages near the floor.

I bought one of these expecting I could use it without an internet connection but couldn't get it to work. IIRC, the WiFi doorbells require internet to use the Reolink app for the video feed and these wifi doorbells don't use RTSP protocol which means you can't use a separate app like Frigate for streaming. I tried everything to get it to work but could never figure it out - the main setup I was hoping for was using my WiFi guest network (to isolate the camera on its own virtual lan) with the internet blocked on it. If anyone was able to get a similar setup working I'd love to hear about it and would buy this doorbell asap again because in my rental there's no way for me to setup POE.

Update - as others have pointed out I'm wrong and was confusing the battery powered wifi doorbell with the product listed here which is NOT battery powered.

This doorbell checks off all the right boxes but a big one that isnt checked is not being able to use existing chime.

Especially those who have a nice home. Using the external plugged in chime it comes with just seems ghetto and janky. And at the level of those who own a home where little details start to be crucial, this big omission will eat at you. Such a shame.

Eufy owners who are complaining about how long the feed takes to pull up, that is a big issue with eufy. They still use some encryption that goes through their server and sometimes takes forever. Wish they had an option to disable it. It would bring up feeds way quicker. And as some of you may have notice, eufy has its good days and bad days. So its not your connection, its Eufy's end.

To each their own. I have a nice home and I prefer the plug in chimes. I have one on either side of my house (about 3200 sq ft single level) so I can hear them from anywhere. I couldn't hear the mechanical one that's in the middle of my house from either end where we spend most of our time.

Got this for $85 I think several months ago. Works well for me, no issues. Been too lazy to get a microSD card in there so just been using it with live streaming.

It does support RTSP and ONVIF. I'm using it with Blue Iris software. You do have to enable it from the settings thru the app under "Device Info" (click on the icon of the camera once you're in the settings. Then go to Advanced Network Settings->Server Settings. From there you can enable RTSP and ONVIF.

Interesting, and you manage all of this without the device being connected to the internet presumably on its own VLAN?

Edit - Reolink FAQ says it's not possible to use without internet : https://support.reolink.com/artic...bell-WiFi/

> Without the Internet connection, the doorbell camera can still detect motion/person and record videos on the SD card (purchased separately). But it cannot send alerts to your mobile devices and you cannot live view it.

I am not sure about your expectation, but without internet, how exactly would it be able to send you an alert and show you a live view? It does not come with it's own cellular modem and cellular plan.

My expectation is that I can stream the video/audio feed to any device on my local network without the need for the camera to communicate to Reolinks servers. Anecdotally, I tried setting this up personally and couldn't get it to work. YMMV

I just tested by disconnecting my internet into my router and was still able to view the camera from the Reolink App and the Blue Iris app while at home connected to my router's LAN.

Their other product support page explicitly says RTSP/ONVIF is NOT supported with battery WiFi cameras unless you have the home hub product: https://support.reolink.com/artic...TSP-ONVIF/ Do you perhaps have their HomeHub?

I'm using my WIFI Reolink with Frigate and have been for a couple years. It replaced a Ring doorbell camera because I wanted all my cameras to be local only. I actually have internet access blocked on this device (and all my smart home devices) so everything is local network. Works great and has a better picture than the Ring it replaced.
All my other cameras (7 total) are POE, but the Wifi on the this doorbell does a good job.

The product listed here is not the battery powered one. It either connects to the existing doorbell wiring (this is how I use it) or a USB connection.
I can't speak to the battery powered one, but even if it worked, my Frigate install would run down the battery pretty quickly.

I have this for a couple years. Works perfectly with internet blocked which should be standard practice for most IoT devices. I have it on my camera VLAN and it works perfectly with synology surveillance station. I also have it integrated with home assistant and scrypted for HomeKit support. This is how a doorbell should be made - completely local without any reliance on the cloud. Now only if they had a package camera.

Ahhhh, I stand corrected then. Thank you so much for clarifying! Guess I'll give the wired one a shot then!
