A bit unrelated but i am surprised how little K1Cs seem to sell for that reseller but how quickly the other product are sold. Happy i got my Ender 5 Max when i did, easy steal for 400 bucks.

I'm sorry I can't parse your phrasing. I think you are believing this is a third party seller? Looks like creality direct to me

So I don't know anything about 3d scanners but are there obvious dealbreaker concerns getting these "cheaper" options vs the ones that are thousands of dollars?

Are the main differences like "resolution" and detail quality of the scans or is it more about automatic capture and special features that the expensive units have?

This one's looks like it uses a cell phone... Is that for the phone camera use? I've heard the stands alone phone scanners are crap so I'm trying to figure out what this adds specifically if it's just using a phone.

Sorry for uber noob questions lol.

This is good for medium sized objects, according to the reviews I found. Claimed resolution down to 0.1mm, but closer to 1mm in actual use. The phone is just for mobile storage, using it away from your computilo.

This review seemed pretty comprehensive and fair: https://thetechnologyman.com/crea...-any-good/

I'm tempted to get it, but since electronics always get cheaper with time and I'm at least another year away from getting set up w/ 3D printing, I'm better off waiting. The Ender 3 I bought a year and a half ago before the Eaton fire was luckily in storage, so at least I won't have to replace that, but in the meantime the prices have dropped pretty sharply on entry-level filament printers, so I can see where the scanners like this will also likely continue falling in price; a few years ago the price on something w/ this unit's capabilities would have easily been $500+. And who knows? Maybe someone will come out with a scanner dongle for cell phones similar to the IR cameras, so the price/performance drops even more sharply [since all the computing and power supply can be handling by the device everyone already owns...]
