Sweet deal
So $800 - sans the aesthetics - is a damn good deal.
p.s. No one cares what the decks look like if you play good tunes.

The SL-1200M7B is a rugged direct drive Technics turntable that is best known as a long running DJ standard, with tank like build quality and strong durability for hard use. At $800, it lands well below current pricing for the unbranded SL-1200MK7 and is described as a strong value if the Lamborghini graphics do not bother you. The main tradeoffs are cosmetic, since the special edition is essentially a reskinned MK7 with silk screened branding, and it does not include a cartridge or built in phono stage. It is a solid fit for DJ focused setups or buyers who can live with the look.
Common Questions (6)
Yes, skins and wraps can cover the finish, and custom 12inchskinz options are available. The platter graphics are not just a removable slipmat; the wheel pattern is part of the included vinyl piece, while the slipmat itself can be swapped.
Yes, $800 is widely viewed as a strong deal for a Technics 1200, especially since the unbranded SL-1200MK7 is listed around $1,297 at Sweetwater and the special editions rarely go on sale. The main tradeoff is accepting the Lamborghini colorway and graphics.
No, this model does not include a cartridge, so you need to buy one separately. If you choose a moving-coil cartridge, you also need a phono preamp; moving-magnet setups are simpler if your receiver already has phono input.
Yes, it is essentially a reskinned MK7 with Lamborghini branding and graphics. The special edition mainly changes the aesthetics, not the core turntable design.
It is overkill for most home listening setups unless you specifically want a rugged direct-drive deck or plan to DJ. The 1200 line is valued for durability and scratching, but it is not a meaningful sound-quality upgrade over a decent belt-drive table for most listeners.
Yes, you may need a phono preamp if your receiver lacks a phono input, and an upgraded mat or cartridge can improve the setup. The stock mat can be swapped, and one suggested upgrade path is an Ortofon Bronze cartridge with a suitable preamp such as a Pro-ject Phono Box S2 or Schiit Mani2.

Really, not a bad deal on a 1200 if you can get past the color. Skins/wraps will take care of it if you really need to cover it up.
So this is a step up from the 1500C?
