The SL-1200M7B is a rugged direct drive Technics turntable that is best known as a long running DJ standard, with tank like build quality and strong durability for hard use. At $800, it lands well below current pricing for the unbranded SL-1200MK7 and is described as a strong value if the Lamborghini graphics do not bother you. The main tradeoffs are cosmetic, since the special edition is essentially a reskinned MK7 with silk screened branding, and it does not include a cartridge or built in phono stage. It is a solid fit for DJ focused setups or buyers who can live with the look.

I couldn't resist this price even with the cheesy graphics. Couldn't even find a used mk2 from 1982 at this price. Pull the trigger!

For anyone wondering, the "un-branded" 1200 is currently $1300 @ B&H. Given that 1200s were $600 - $700 20+ yrs ago, accounting for inflation, that price feels "normal-ish."

So $800 - sans the aesthetics - is a damn good deal.

p.s. No one cares what the decks look like if you play good tunes.

Considering a Big Mac Meal is now basically 3x the price it was around the time the Technics 1200MK2 TT was $500-600 a piece, this isn't really a "normalish price", it is just a realistic price. I don't mean to bicker or debate here, just stating facts... I myself run a Rega Planar 6 and the technics doesn't even come close in my opinion but I grew up on DJin' with Numark TT1600s LOL so there ya go.

dam what does a good cartridge run?
Depends if you want moving magnet or moving coil. If you go moving coil you will need a phono preamp too.

A Technics SL-1200MK7 is $1,297 on the Sweetwater Web site. If I didn't already have a good turntable I would buy one. Don't care about the color. It doesn't affect the sound of your records.

Why would anyone buy a turntable in 2026??
Unless you enjoy cracks and pops ,also cleaning disks...
What a waste of money!!
I have probably 2000 albums that I had collected over years. I hadn't listened to them in a while. I was thinking do I sell them or keep them. Last Summer I decided to keep them and tried to play an album. I turned on my turntable and it would spin like three times and stop. So I needed a new turntable.

Hanpin made a name replicating/copying Technics tables.

Is this a good deal? Im still new collecting vinyl and currently have audio technica at-lp70x with klispch r50pm and subwoofwer. Should I upgrade to this or just wait? I upgraded mine to green tip
No do not 'upgrade'. There will be very little if any sound quality difference (unless you make some up in your head to justify the whole change)
This is a direct drive turntable very unlikely you need it. Direct drive is inferior sonically to a decent belt table but it is very durable and allows for hard DJ use and hard core mixing and matching or otherwise called scratching up sick beats, which almost no one does.

If you go take a peek at the high end audiophile discussion forums, vinyl are all the rage. They provide warmer and more realistic sound, specially when used with tube amplifiers. There are some high end turntables costing $20K+ that are being made today with modern technologies!!
IMHO Nonsense. Really it all is. The 20k tables are total cash grabs and lost souls buy them sometimes. Honestly most of those are not made with anything very high tech involved - they just look impressive.
I feel there is merit to vinyl collecting and going out into the world to record stores and thinking the whole thing is kinda cool to get fairly high quality sound by dragging a rock over a very toxic plastic plate. Also some pressings are made from different masters but the whole idea has gotten so stinky with magical stories and totally ridiculous products. Kind of breaks my heart. Seems like nobody can stop it though. The best advice I can float out is get a basic table, some pretty good speakers(and amp) and then stop there and just enjoy tunes and the funny process.
