Amazing cpu but its a hard sell given the current market. With typical consumer gpu's such as 9070xt/5070ti, you only really need a semi recent cpu to ensure there are not bottlenecks. Even when I had my now ancient yet decent 5600x, I never ran into a cpu bottleneck playing games maxed out at 1440p with my 9070xt.

If you had a 4080/amd equivalent or better, then this cpu becomes an attractive option. For the rest of us using low-mid tier gpu's, our end of life am4/any am5 cpu/intel equivalents will be good enough.

Fun fact, Walmart in my area has the 7800x3d for 145$ on clearance and 290$ at select stores in person. (Ik, I went and bought 3 for builds)

That's crazy it would be on "clearance". I got lucky with a microcenter mistake a few months ago. I bought their 7800x3d bundle that was price mistaked down to $500 then they accidentally gave me the wrong (but still compatible) motherboard so they refunded the whole price of the motherboard to me a few days later. Ended up getting the cpu/mb and 32gb ddr5 for $386.
