I got one of these the last time a deal was posted. I was expecting junk but was more than pleasantly surprised. You absolutely do need to be careful as any sort of jerk reaction could easily put that small scoop through your eardrum. It is also easy to irritate the lining of the ear by overscraping. You won't realize you have done it until later when it itches and/or burns from the rubbing. My advice is to start out with short sessions until you get the hang of it. One super interesting thing I learned is that it is possible for hair follicles to grow into your ear instead of out. I actually had one doing that and it was causing the weirdest crackling noises as it rubbed against the eardrum. A combination of Debrox and this tool helped get the soft wax and hair out of there!

They are pretty nice and not just for ear cleaning. I use mine to check teeth areas or something I want to check out that is very tiny. Eyes not the best anymore.
