ThermoMaven P2 is a wireless meat thermometer built for long cooks, with two probes, Wi Fi and Bluetooth monitoring, and an app that adds useful extras like an Apple Watch app, iOS widget, AI cook time, and multiple sensor readings per probe. The probes are praised for accuracy, longer range, and helpful use on steaks, salmon, brisket, ribs, and rotisserie cooking, with the larger base display also standing out. The main drawback is probe size and fit, since the probes are thick and must be inserted to the marked line, making them less suited to smaller cuts. Coupon checkout also proved finicky and often required the ThermoMaven US seller or a browser refresh.

Common Questions (5)

  • The code 3FNFHEQ5 can still work, but it often only applies when you select the ThermoMaven-US seller and the $149.99 regular-price listing. On the Amazon app, tap the arrow in the promo box to apply it; if it still fails, refreshing checkout or trying a browser can make the discount appear.

  • It works well for larger foods such as steak, salmon, brisket, ribs, and chicken breasts, but it is not ideal for small items. The probe must be inserted up to the label, so smaller cuts or thin meats can be awkward and may need a wired thermometer instead.

  • Yes, the probes are noticeably thicker than wired probes and can leave larger holes in the meat. Compared with a MEATER Plus or Govee wireless thermometer, they were described as thicker, though still usable and appreciated for the larger display and wireless convenience.

  • Accuracy is reported as very good, with the probes described as extremely accurate and the app's AI cook-time and resting-time estimates landing spot on. One comparison also put a similar Govee probe within 1-2°F using ice-water checks and a ThermoWorks instant-read thermometer.

  • The system supports Wi‑Fi monitoring, Bluetooth, iOS widgets, and an Apple Watch app, and the probes use multiple sensing zones to show temperatures from different parts of the meat. The receiver shows the lowest reading while the app can display readings from six places on each probe.

I have the Govee Wifi Thermometer with 4 probes. Paid around $20 for in on Ebay, as it was open box, but everything inside the box was sealed and had never been used. I tested it in my Masterbuilt smoker and found it to be spot on as far as temps are concerned. The difference between mine and this one, is my probes still have a wire attached to a base, that magnetizes to the outside of the smoker. This one has wireless probes, but both have WiFi ability to send alerts to your phones. The wires are so thin these days, that they don't hinder anything, unless you need to turn your meat. Then you have to pull the probe and reposition it. However, when I smoke brisket, ribs, chicken, etc., I tend to not have to turn anything.

I would switch to this model, but I really enjoy having the 4 probes, for when I cook a couple different meats at a time on the smoker, which we do pretty often. Also, I like extra probes, for when I smoke things like a Turkey and want to monitor the temp of the breast and thighs, at the same time.

I think this is probably the better Thermometer, but if you are on a budget, the Govee 4 probe is on Amazon for around $34 and you can find it on Ebay sometimes cheaper. I tested the temps on it, using a couple of methods. I used the ice water method and routinely while I'm cooking, I will use a Thermoworks Instant Read thermometer, to check the accuracy of the probes. It's usually within 1-2 degrees every time.

Did not know Govee had thermometers. I've been very happy with the quality of their products and their app so I will definitely give them a try! I also Smoke brisket & ribs on a Masterbuilt 800 and worry these wireless probes will die halfway through the smoke. Who's gonna wake me up when my brisket is ready to wrap?Big Grin

Entered code, did not work initially, but refreshed the checkout page and the price was corrected to successfully reflect the code.

The 4 probe one is on sale for $100. There's another slick deal posting on it. I returned the 2 probe, to buy the 4 probe one.

I just received my order, and comparing it to my Govee wireless thermometer, I can already tell that the probe thickness is a bit thinner. I like the base for the ThermoMaven with the larger display, while the Govee has a smaller display and it's more of a case style holder that has a lid. I do think the ThermoMaven will be great for thinner cuts of meat, and may need to try it next week.

Good to know. This won't work for chicken breasts
Can you stick the probe in sideways so it gets more surface area of the chicken breast?

How the plan works? It says "We will send you an e-gift card for the purchase price of your covered product. In some instances, we will replace or repair it." Will they refund me full price if only one probe goes bad? If they replace the probe, does the plan cover unlimited replacements during the 3 year period, or one time only?
Yeah I wondered that also I just skipped it. It's only $50 I have my govee as a backup so I'm golden

It worked for my chicken breasts. Boneless chicken thighs are a little more challenging but it works

Thank you. I'm waiting for the G2 to go on sale again. I want the longer range.
Sub-1G is the long range feature that connects the base unit with the probes and it's also available on the X2 model that is currently listed on SD for $40 at Amazon. In addition to Sub-1G it also has regular Wi-Fi. However it does not have bluetooth or the phone app. Since I perfer to use the base unit only, I opted for the X2 model.

Actually they'll work with anything you're cooking so long as you can insert the probe to the label. I have the X2 model which is identical except it has Sub-1G connectivity instead of bluetooth and the single probe G1 model that has both Sub-1G and bluetooth...and I use them to cook chicken breast, ribeyes, fliet mignon and more.
