Is this any better than the speakers of a decent TV?
(Based on the description I don't see how it can be since it doesn't even support an HDMI input/passthrough and/or any advanced audio decoding)

yes it better than old tv without hdmi.
its has 10W , old tv only 5W

Imho ilive products perform poorly and much less than specs indicate. Every ilive headphones and speaker I got for free from the good old Sears points rolling days was low quality and not worth it. I'd put the $20 towards a better brand and soundbar if you're spending money. Ilive is like rebranded cheapest temu item quality, though temu has better no brand stuff imho

just arrived and tested and it's garbage. It also weighs as much as an empty soda can.
