I assume this would fit the bill for recording ProRES direct to SD from an iPhone 17 Pro?

If you're insistent on SD cards, yeah. V90 is the highest grade write speed you'll get out of a SD card. But, it's usually recommended to just get a portable SSD and write to that.

This is a very good price for this card. Not everyone is going to need this one ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No kidding. I feel like a 1TB was cheaper back then.

Foreal tho.

Granted this is an uber-mega-extra-super high speed card but I got 1TB Samsung pro plus for 60 bucks back in September. I thought my silly impulse buys were a waste but not anymore Smilie

I guess if you're shooting 8k raw on something with SD Cards (why???) you need this. Otherwise it's expensive overkill.

These are generally for pro full frame cameras for burst shooting and 4k60-120 recording also.

I don't think there are others that are 'this good of a deal'/noteworthy deals but most people likely don't need V90 SD Cards. There are better values in slightly slower V60 SD cards, and cheaper/but lower performance still in V30. If you need V90, you already know about it.

Perhaps look into the Sabrent Rocket line when it restocks.

I got 2 x Lexar 256gb x1800 for $80 last year around summer. Now that same pack is $250!! This is crazy.

It's all part of the storage inflation from AI demand. Flash memory cards, SSDs and even HDDs were hit.

This is a very good price for this particular card. At V90 speed there is a significant jump in price. Not everyone needs this, but if you are shooting 20FPS, you need to clear buffer.

It's kind of a niche class of cards but this actually pretty good price if you need these specs. Most people don't need the V90 spec though. V30 or V60 probably enough for most people. If you don't know, good chance you don't need the V90.

Definitely become very expensive! I was looking at my history and the 512GB card I bought two years ago has more than doubled in price. Though for this particular card, I just checked the history on Amazon and this exact V90 256 GB Lexar card has never been this low. Like someone mentioned, this has a very specific use which will allow cameras that support it to record videos in 4k or higher resolution, 120 fps and 4:2:2 10 bit color. This standard is more for professionals and people who like to color grade their footage and edit things like get better slow motion footage. The price for this card and capacity is actually pretty good.
