DO NOT buy this over a M5 Air base model at $950 IMHO ($850 open box at BestBuy) 16gb/512SSD worth the higher price for newer faster CPU/GPU and 512SSD
If youre a super low basic user and don't use a lot of storage this M4 is a good/decent deal. after MacOS is fully installed it usually takes up 30+GB on the 256 SSD and you only have a little over 200GB free on the SSD.
My $0.02
Waiting for something might not be the best move. Especially if it's from a company that does NOT telegraph their upcoming releases until they deem it fit to announce. So "maybe" it has oled, "maybe" it has touchscreen -- or maybe not. There's absolutely, genuinely zero guarantee of anything.
Get what you need, when you need it.

The 13 inch M4 MacBook Air at $700 stands out as a strong value for everyday use, especially for portability, battery life, and general school, office, web, and travel tasks. It is described as compact, fast enough for light photo work and even some 4K video editing, with Costco adding warranty coverage and a lower price than Apple or open box alternatives. The main tradeoff is the 256GB SSD, which can fill quickly once macOS and apps are installed, making 512GB more appealing for larger photo, music, or offline media libraries. It is a solid fit if you want a light Mac and can live with modest storage.
Common Questions (5)
The 13-inch M4 Air is the better value if you want portability and mostly do web, documents, streaming, and light work. Spend more for the 15-inch or M5 if you want more screen space, 512GB storage, better sustained performance, or a Pro-level display and speakers.
It is fine for basic users who mostly stream media and keep files in iCloud, but it fills up quickly if you store lots of photos, music, videos, or TV shows locally. macOS itself takes 30+GB, leaving a little over 200GB free, and upgrading later usually means using an external SSD or replacing the laptop.
Use the Costco app's warehouse inventory search with item code 1814012, and check nearby warehouses there too. The app can show the $699.97 price even when the floor tag still says $849, and some stores ring it up at checkout despite the shelf marker being outdated.
Yes, it is YMMV: some warehouses showed $699.97, while others were marked $849 or had no stock. Availability also changed quickly, with some stores having only a few units or selling out the same day.
At $700, the M4 Air is the stronger deal if you can stretch the budget, because it adds 8GB more RAM and a much better chip for about $100-$200 more depending on the comparison. The Neo only wins if your budget is closer to $500 and its 8GB/256GB configuration fully meets your needs.

The difference in cost between an extra 8GB of RAM, a backlit keyboard and a MUCH better processor is a good bit more than $200; as such, the $700 M4 MBA is a better overall deal, dollar for dollar, than the $500 Nano. It's really not complicated and I'm not sure why we are continuing this debate.
What if someone sees no value in any of that, and the $499 Neo does everything they need? Then what?
"Deal" means nothing save in the eye of the beholder.

Have others heard rumors that macbook airs will be 120hz in 1-2 generations? Also, there are rumors that macbook pros may be coming with OLED later this year with M6 pro/max series. Possibly including touchscreen!
Thoughts from others?
As for touch screen on macbooks I really doubt it, that's a rumor that's been floating around for many years and the consensus is that iPads satisfy the touch screen need especially now since they have keyboard and trackpad support, and apple wouldn't really benefit from a 2-in-1 because they get more sales from selling two devices in theory, but in practice I'm sure many would still buy ipads too
For web browsing, YouTube/Netflix, and basic document work, this model is more than enough — and it's sufficient for most non-programming tasks as well.
If you want better speakers, plan to do some video editing, or need it for programming, I'd recommend going with the Pro. There are a lot of good deals on the 14-inch Pro (512GB / 16GB) right now. For example, Micro Center has it for around $1,300.
If you need more storage, you can spend about $200 more and get the M5 Air with upgraded storage for around $950.
Personally, I prefer the Air because of the portability compared to the Pro. But the Pro's speakers are amazing as a noting point.
I dont fan a touchscreen laptop as as many people stated in earlier case, I can use ipad. But now Ipad with M processors is not cheap no more.... I can just get this mac instead.
