These solar torch lights are mainly decorative accent pieces that create a convincing flickering flame look from a distance, especially in low-profile yard spots or for parties. The small 2 by 2 inch size and low price make them feel like mini torches, and the light unit and solar charger seem to hold up reasonably well. The weak points are the very dim output, flimsy plastic poles, and glued, soldered batteries that are hard to replace. They are a short-term ambience pick rather than a real yard light.

Common Questions (5)

  • No. They're mainly decorative accent lights and only give a faint glow, so they should not be expected to illuminate a yard. Brighter solar tiki lights around 96+ lumens are the better choice if you want real light output.

  • They're very small, about 2" x 2", and several comments describe them as mini or much smaller than the photos suggest. Expect a tiny decorative torch rather than a full-size tiki light.

  • The light heads and solar chargers can last for years, but the plastic shafts are flimsy and often break within 1-2 years. In sunny climates, the units may last longer with UV protection, but the batteries are glued/soldered in, so replacement is a hassle.

  • Yes. They work well at ground level for marking a perimeter or other temporary use, but they're too flimsy to leave standing like permanent tiki torches. The poles are lightweight plastic and can break in a breeze.

  • Yes, the code KW59VY5B still seems to work. In the Amazon app, you may need to tap the arrow in the promo code box before pressing Continue to apply it.

We have 9 TomCare solar tiki lights we bought in 2016 and they still run all night from dusk to dawn in CA weather. They were a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. We've never had to do any repairs and the battery life is impressive. The flame effect and color look much more realistic, moving up and down compared to others that just flicker. I think my video of them on YouTube is still available.

While I don't have these specific torches, I assume they all look the same. From a distance they look amazingly like real fire. They should not be used as a source of illumination, simply that torch/tiki/fire aesthetic.
I've got identical ones from another brand and I agree, they look nice lit up and will run till dawn in the summer if they're well lit during the day. Bought 8 a few years ago and only had one die so far.

Very low, just a faint glow in the dark.

A potential issue is that the batteries are glued and soldered in. Replacing them is possible but a real hassle compared to models with removable batteries. I bought some at Dollar Tree a few years ago that has replaceable batteries.

These will end up in the trash after a year if you live in a sunny climate. I live in Texas and they lasted about 18 months. The effect is nice but spray some UV resistant clear coat on the solar panel to make them last longer.
Goid call, those'll get wrecked otherwise

These are very small lights. Just 2" x 2", just so you know.
