The poles are 3 pieces and cheap plastic. There's one little 'spike' almost like a cheap tent stake, that you push in the ground and then the hollow plastic pole sits over the top. So, they're pretty flimsy, especially in a breeze.
However, the tops / light unit and Solar charger are all pretty well made and haven't had any issue with the actual function or durability of the light unit themselves.
But, don't expect to put these out and just leave them in place like a wood tiki. They're not durable enough. The plastic is lightweight 'toy' plastic, if that makes sense.
I think getting these and then retrofitting them onto a better pole or something would make for a cool light. And as I said, they're great for camping or temp use, although they do need a bit of time in the daylight to charge up.
