To play devil's advocate...it may be useless for people without any medical conditions but for those with GERD, LPR, or acid reflux issues in general...a couple of studies have shown that alkaline water can actually help symptoms.

Had GERD/Reflux issues since I was a teen and these waters have helped lower my symptoms. Maybe it's a placebo but I noticed improvement once I started drinking these regularly.

Mom's previous doctor left the practice recently and her new one recommended alkaline water out of the blue. She has none of the conditions you list and heartburn maybe twice a year. He seemed really excited about it to the point of recommending brands.

I recently started seeing a new doctor too. After our first visit, she asked if I mind if she prayed for me. I said sure, expecting a "keep you in my prayers" kind of thing. But no, she got on her knees, closed her eyes and started praying out loud.

Now wondering if we both should be looking for new doctors.

Right, cause sharing peer-reviewed white papers written by professionals in their areas of expertise are clearly nonsense and should be ignored and considered nonsense. 🙄

Not ignoring any thing. Simple search summary…

No, alkaline water is not proven to be better than regular tap water for most people. While marketing suggests significant health benefits, there is minimal high-quality human scientific evidence to support those claims. Most health experts agree that regular hydration with tap water is just as effective and much cheaper.Studies "For" (Potential Benefits):Acid Reflux: A 2017 trial suggested that a diet with high-pH (8.8) alkaline water may be helpful in managing acid reflux symptoms, likely by neutralizing stomach acid, though researchers attributed much of this to the diet.Pepsin Inhibition: A 2012 test-tube study showed that pH 8.8 alkaline water permanently inactivates pepsin, an enzyme responsible for acid reflux.Bone Health/Metabolism: Small studies indicate potential benefits for reducing bone loss or improving metabolism, but experts advise these require more extensive research.Hydration: Some limited data suggests potential benefits for rehydration.Studies "Against" (Lack of Evidence/No Benefit):No Disease Prevention: No evidence shows that alkaline water prevents or treats cancer, slows aging, or improves skin quality.Body Regulation: The human body manages its own pH balance (7.35–7.45) through lungs and kidneys, regardless of what you drink. No Superiority: Scientific reviews often conclude that no significant data supports choosing it over safe, regular water.Safety/Concerns: Overly alkaline water (very high pH) can potentially disrupt stomach acid, which is necessary to kill bacteria.Summary of Research:Against/Neutral: The vast majority of mainstream medical advice, including from Harvard Health and Mayo Clinic, notes a lack of robust evidence, placing this in the "little science/high hype" category. For: Studies tend to be small, in laboratory settings (not humans), or limited to specific conditions like acid reflux. Conclusion:You are unlikely to see significant health benefits from drinking alkaline water over regular water. For most people, proper hydration with regular tap water is sufficient and cost-effective
