I wouldn't get this model. The one with a RTX 5060 and 1000 nit tandem OLED is only $100-200 more open box if you can find one. This one is only 500 nit and 5050.

I have this and love it. Great screen, even without the tandem oled. I don't really need 1100 nits for work, so works well for me. The biggest issue I have with this laptop is the side power button. I have a habit of putting the laptop on the side when I'm just walking away for a few mins from my couch and it turns off!! I don't like putting laptops flat on my carpet or bed cos they overheat sometimes.

You're mistaken and misguiding others. This has the 1100-nits peak, and not just stuck to 500-nits as you are suggesting from your comment. This is a creator laptop and there's practically no gain from jumping to 5060 as they both have the same 8GB VRAM and 100W TGP. Secondly, open boxes for the 5060 model aren't even available. If it was and the prices were close, I'd have recommended that myself since that has a 3.2K Tandem OLED.

If I'm doing more RTS gaming and don't need a heavy graphics card (currently running a 1060 in a 2016 Predator laptop just fine!), I assume the 5050 would be fine. I've been told that for my style of use, the stronger processor (Ultra 9) would benefit me more than a stronger graphics card (>5050). Any suggestions or corrections to my assumption? Basically, I think this could make a good gaming laptop upgrade for my usage, and at a good price point.

Its amazing bro. 2000$ laptop for a grand. Yes its worth it. Ddr5 8400 32 gigs ram is insane even if it soldered. Its enough ram. Does worry me that 1 of the rams failing then what do you do?

You're right, tandem oled is 1600 (1000 sdr) and this one is 1100 (500 sdr). You would only be getting 1100 nits peak in small areas of the screen so 500 nits is the more important measurement. The glare is especially bad on this laptop so you will clearly notice the difference. I was able to get one in Manhattan last week but returned it because there was something wrong with the digitizer, I made sure it got sent back to lenovo for repair. It goes in and out of stock, I've been watching the listing for a while.

8GB VRAM is pretty limited for AI work. You can do it but not a lot of the options for models to run.
