The Logitech M196 is a simple Bluetooth mouse that fits everyday work and light use, especially when you want to avoid a USB dongle and keep a port free. It pairs easily, works well on MacBook Air and other basic tasks, and includes a preinstalled AA battery. The back button doubles as the power switch, and Bluetooth 5.0 LE is built in. It is less responsive on white surfaces, has no separate power switch, and range can drop off at longer distances. A compact, no fuss option for basic use.
Common Questions (5)
Yes. It works well for basic everyday tasks and office work, and Bluetooth pairing is easy. It is better suited to light use than gaming or heavier mouse demands.
No. It is strictly Bluetooth, so it does not use a USB dongle or unifying connector. That also frees up a USB port on your computer.
There is no separate power switch. The back button functions as the power switch.
It can be less responsive on white surfaces and works better on a dark mouse pad. It has also been used successfully with a MacBook Air over Bluetooth.
It uses Bluetooth 5.0 LE. That makes it a straightforward low-energy Bluetooth mouse for devices that support Bluetooth pairing.
