Would this cover one or two burners on top of a gas range in a kitchen?

measure how far your burners are apart and find out, every one is different

I just bought a larger cast iron griddle for the stove. This one has its place, like for camping, but if your purpose is like mine, to upgrade your electric griddle to a much bigger size on the stove, you might want to get a larger sized one.

Reversible cast iron seems like a terrible idea. Wouldn't the flame from the gas stove burn off any seasoning on the down side making it unusable when flipped? Also seems very shallow, I'd be wary of it sending overflow right into the flame.

It wouldn't be any different then the bottom side of a cast iron pan on the stove.

I don't season the bottom side of a cast iron pan, or cook on the bottom side. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but when I'm done using a cast iron pan I heat it up, rub some oil on it, let it cool and wipe the excess off before putting it away. My point is that putting a flame to the seasoned side of the pan could burn it to nasty tasting carbon which I wouldn't want to cook food on afterwards. So yeah, it is very different.

ok, I see what you are saying. I usually coat the whole thing because I'm thinking about keeping it from rusting, but wasn't thinking about the coating for food.
I just used my new cast iron griddle (different brand) this morning. I cooked bacon on it, then eggs and pancakes. It wasn't seasoned right, so I'm going to have to redo the whole thing, and I'm getting used to the burner differences on the stove I put it on, but it was alright for first use.
I haven't really thought about using the bottom grill side, so what you said is something to think about before I grill on it if I ever do.
