Anywhere you have air coming in, especially a bigger hole that might be around an air conditioner installed in a wall. It's only about a half inch square so the whole can't really be more than a half inch unless you want to put a couple layers. One side is sticky so it sticks to the window or the air conditioner. Some people put it around places in their windows. For example, the old fashioned wooden windows that would slide up or down and didn't necessarily meet very well in the middle so you could put them there

I use it to fill large gaps around the windows when using an a/c unit or window fan; especially where the 2 windows overlap. It creates a "seal" that helps insulate and keep bugs out.
