Better than neo for kids school?
Get the Neo. Full warranty, easily put into AppleCare+, software support for 7 years (typically; we're all kinda guessing on this), and at $499 Edu, it's dirt cheap. Even in 2-3 years, max you'll lose might be $100 or $150 when you sell. Hard to beat that.
$49/year full AppleCare+ (if anything breaks, Apple can fix it; if your KID breaks it, sometimes fees can apply, but it's still cheap)

I'm reminded how much I dislike FedEx. They keep me waiting with a tracking number all day and when I step out for an errand, they arrive with a door tag indicating missed delivery. Why not alert me 30 min beforehand? Why does this piece of junk need a signature on delivery?

It's the throwaway generation that are whining.
There's no reason why you can't use a PC laptop for 9-years as well.
Macs are designed to be proprietary, and so when Apple decides to deprecate it, well you're often SOL or depend on the community if they can work it.

Found the Windows user who doesn't know wtf he's talking about...
Irony is that I'm using a 2019 i9 MacBook Pro with x86 that Apple abandoned and I have better luck with MS supporting it through Windows 11. I don't plan to give it up, because I love the hardware feel, but I don't want to completely switch to macOS. It's the last one that has both for now.

UPS is so much better and consistent than Fedex for me consistently. The brown seems so much more efficient. I rarely get packages from Fedex compared to UPS, and I get far more delays and issues with Fedex.

The world is full of doubting Thomas. That is all I can say.
People are doubting you because you didn't provide a link or even the name of the place where you bought the supposedly cheap laptops. You're gatekeeping at best or making it up at worst.

These devices are literally designed to be thrown away. Apple stops supporting them. You can't get OS updates, and then you throw it in the garbage because of security risks and compatibility problems.
Tell that to all the retro hardware enthusiasts.

I get FedEx and UPS deliveries all the time for over 10 years all deliveries have been reliable, accurate, and on time. Maybe a handful of times they've been delayed.

The delivery system on the other hand has maybe lost a few packages in-transit. but not more than 5 in the over 10 years of shipping and receiving.

I live in a smaller(ish) market city so that is probably a factor. but its still a city of 1.5 million.

The delivery estimate windows are usually rock solid. everyone has their routes and they do them consistently. I know my UPS and FedEX delivery guys on a casual basis I've had conversations with them a few times.

You can also go on their website(s) DAY(S) BEFORE delivery and have them ship it to a local store and you pick it up at your leisure. I've done this maybe 1-2 times (Very High value item and I wasn't going to be home)

I live in a 3 million population city so not huge either, but a well known city that doesn't really have a lot of routing issues when it comes to air/auto transportation. Yet, somehow Fedex consistently delays packages after giving you an estimate. UPS estimates are far more accurate for me. This is in transit between cities/routes rather than the last mile delivery. Last mile delivery, Amazon is by far the best. I'm superbly impressed with them as I order so many packages, and I probably have fewer delays or issues with them than even UPS, let alone Fedex.

I work from home so I'm very sensitive (or maybe aware) of it.

Received with a few scratches on the body. Screen looks close to perfect. Seems to be some sort of super glue material on some of the keys and on the trackpad. Battery health at 85% and 338 charge cycles.Edit: I shined a very bright flashlight at the screen and there are tons of scratches.
Dang, I just received mine. A couple scratches on the front and 94% battery health

Mine looked like it was tossed around by the previous owner. It has major dents on the front two corners and a bent screen. It also had a blown speaker on the left. Returning.
