I'm confused as well. I'm pretty sure sub-c was the older cell type, or more the size. Maybe these use different cells to keep it lighter for the magnetic function?
Sub-C is the older type... it refers specifically to the size of the individual NiCd or NiMH cells inside older 18V battery packs, not the modern Lithium-ion batteries. Kills the deal, move on.

It's just a typo the description says the two batteries included are the PBP003 and PBP004. Those are the modern HP line batteries.
