These 27 gallon Sterilite bins are valued for secure snap on lids and easy stacking, making them useful for bulk storage and moves. The deal price is competitive with Costco and Sam's Club pricing, and the six pack format matches the listing. The main concern is durability in shipping and over time, since lids and bins have arrived cracked or smashed and the plastic is described as brittle, especially in cold weather. A practical pick if local pickup or careful handling is available.

Common Questions (5)

  • The $48 six-pack works out to about $8 per bin, which is close to Sam's Club pricing and above Costco's reported sale prices of about $6.99 or $6.98 each. Costco also does not require buying a 6-pack.

  • The bins can be sturdy enough for moving and stacking, but the lids are reported to be the weak point. Several comments describe the plastic as brittle, with lids cracking after a few months in a garage or breaking in cold weather.

  • Buying in store is the safer choice because shipped orders have arrived smashed or cracked, especially the lids. In-store pickup avoids the damage risk and the hassle of returns.

  • The lids are reported to snap on securely and the bins stack nicely with each other. That makes them practical for garage or closet storage when the lids hold up.

  • Clear plastic storage bins can crack more easily in cold temperatures, especially in colder regions like the Northeast. That makes them a riskier choice if they will be stored or used outdoors or in an unheated space.

Can you guys stop acting like you don't pay for costco membership? The membership cost is part of this price unless you spend a ton to make it worth it... They arent $6 either, 6.99 on coupon is not $6. It is not worth it for single people to shop there for the most part. It used to be worth it for the gas if you were single, but now even that discount is gone around me since they are the same price as normal gas stations being GREEDY!
i dont pay for my costco membership and yes they were $6 at my local costco but thanks for ur rant over a .99 difference.

I personally think Home depot brand beats Greenmade brand with durability, especially with the easily breakable greenmade or lowes lid in comparison. Only negative I have seen with hd brand is they are not "food grade" like greenmade and stink a little more. I have gone through a ton of these 27 gallon. Anyone know how it compares to the hd or greenmades as far as sturdiness, especially with the lids?

I watched a Youtube video a while back that compared all of the 27 gallon tote brands and the conclusion was that Home Depot's were the best, for whatever that's worth.

With all these reports of breakage in shipping, anyone know how well they hold up during a cross country move (either containers or truck)?
The thick ones from Costco that are 6.99 on sale are amazing, we bought about 125 of them for a move and had no issues. I think they're made by Greenmade USA or something like that

Lids on these are extremely brittle -- cracked and broken from sitting unused in garage for a few months, nothing sitting ontop.

Wish more containers came in clear
Clear plastic bins crack much easier in cold temperatures, if that applies to your area. Never again on the clear ones in the northeast
