I highly recommend putting water detectors near all possible leaks. We use govee ones and it saved us a few times. This mat will not save you from a leak if you do not catch it in time. This mat in combination with a detector is better than a detector alone tho.
I have never heard of water protectors before now, but for $25 per sink, I can get an under sink mat and a standard govee water detector and protect my self for 5 years from water damage under my sink. That's aweesome!!
Thanks for the advice, now I feel more a little more preventative at home.

I think I just stalked ebay for a few weeks and was able to get 15 govee ones for less than $100. I have it spread all over the house and also in the attic. I got the h5058 which is the latest one I think.

You need to be careful using something like this. We had something similar and somehow water got underneath the mat without us knowing. You can't tell just from looking at it. One day I went to pull out the mat and the wood underneath rotted out quite a bit. Just a heads up.

Is that an easy do-it-yourself for an elderly widow with a little help from YouTube, perhaps? Thanks for the suggestion.

I take it up a notch, I have zigbee sensors under all water sources and an auto shutoff valve... Wife thinks I am crazy, but it's a good insurance and pays for it's self if there is ever a leak

Yes. You just need to pair the sensors to the gateway. This all comes in the package. Then just place the sensors under wherever you want to detect water.

She will think you are crazy until it comes in handy while you are out of town! Was it easy to install the auto shut off valve?

could have used this before my cabinet collapsed and got water all over the floor
Still don't understand why cabinets have particle wood on bottom of sinks instead of plastic or stainless steel or have some drain. Seems plumbing will fail at some point. In our case the garbage disposal failed and leaked. Bottom and sides now all warped :/
