Any decent router company gives updates for years. I've grown to really respect ASUS. They do the same with their routers too.

I looked through the list a bit, all these routers are ~10 yrs old. I don't think I've ever kept mine for more than 3-4 yrs.

Right, thats why one of the largest current botnet campaigns as early as mid last year and still going strong has over 14,000 ASUS routers being used... There goes your credibility!

Also if you actually did a little research you would know that Asus once fined heavily and forced to comply to mandatory updates on their products over a decade ago by the US government (FTC) or face ban. They didnt do it out of their own good will.

Some of you so called experts are clueless noobs. Any other powerful insight you want to share with us so I can rip it apart?

The funny part about this is, that I am an Asus fanboi, but only when the price is right.

stupid question im sure. Im using DECO's right now and I can't change the channel of the various wifi networks, and thus i sometimes have interference with wifi devices like headsets. ---Assuming this one has locked in channels too?

Actually no, they (begrudgingly?) enabled manually setting channels on this line, but no other ones.

Same here. I had the BE11000 set for about 3 months and sold it. I went with UniFi and never looked back.

Lol, we were talking about general vulnerability and susceptible to attacks. Also if you actually did a little more research you would know that Kadnap targets still unpatched vectors and vulnerabilities that at this time are not disclosed..... So its not just people who havent updated their firmware or changed their passwords, as there are still ways for KadNap to hit.

The main big one that they did announce and patch so far was the AiCloud vector CVE-2025-59366.

Also how do you think other botnets happen, for other brands??? Outdated firmware that users never update and weak passwords...... So it in most cases is users fault, even if the company patches it some people never update and EOL products.

Been looking to update my Deco X60, but I'm hesitant as TP-Link hasn't gotten their certification approved by FTC unlike Netgear and Amazon's routers. Because the FTC is yet to approve it, TP-Link can't issue updates to routers beyond certain date in 2027. See https://www.pcmag.com/news/fcc-fo...ed-to-know. Just FYI for anyone looking to buy a new router.

First its not till 2029, second read the article you actually posted it clearly tells you its already been extended past the OG deadline of March 2027.... As of literally seven or eight days ago, its now officially pushed back from 2028 to 2029.
