Its certainly possible that this is how it is now or post-pandemic etc, I am not saying you are wrong. I do want to add that I worked at Applebees for about 10 years around 2004-2014 or so, and during that time, they cooked most of the things you would think any normal mid-range casual dining chain restaurant would cook. Certainly they had and used microwaves for some items but not all that many, and the majority of the popular items were grilled on an actual grill, cooked on a flat top, or fried. This included all the steaks, burgers, grilled shrimp, and chicken items, and the adult pasta was boiled in a pot of water on a stove. Fries, wings, fried shrimp, and chicken fingers were fried. The main popular things that were microwaved were kids mac and cheese and kids hot dog, and the mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables were microwaved to warm up but were previously cooked/mashed in the store earlier in the day and refrigerated.

Perhaps things have changed, but this was my review here in 2024 when this deal came around:

I suppose the upside is that's it's only gone up a dollar in two years.

Applebee's all you can eat for $15.99 is mainly about cheap sit down variety, with riblets standing out as the strongest item and boneless wings still getting praise when paired with dipping sauce. The wings and fried items can be satisfying, but the chicken quality on boneless wings gets called out as poor, and the meal can feel heavy enough to cause regret the next day. The offer also runs slower than expected, with small follow up plates and long waits between rounds. It works best if you want a lot of food and do not mind a processed chain meal.

  • Wing-and-riblet fans who like saucy bar food, because the riblets are described as terrific and the boneless wings still work well with dipping sauce.

  • Hungry diners who want a sit-down meal with lots of food, because the all-you-can-eat format can be a decent value when you just want to stuff your face.

    yayboogersFreeBird77

  • People who want quick refills on fried items, because sitting near the kitchen can get wings and fries served directly from the fryer.

    syndbaPilotDillon

  • Chicken-focused diners who expect good quality, because the chicken can be seriously bad and taste like processed bites.

    DelightfulFang4108BrightCemetery5374

  • People who want a light meal, because the portions and refill pace can leave you too full to keep eating more.

    BrightMusic932yayboogers

  • People who rely on boneless wings as the main draw, because they can be oversized nuggets and may taste low quality.

    alokkolaBrightCemetery5374

  • Steak diners who expect proper doneness, because the steak can arrive way too rare.

thats not my point. you compared a fastfood combo with soda drink included and no tips with this basic price without anything add on. this deal does not beat any fastfood without a drink & tips involved.
The point is that's it's a very good dining value compared to any fast-food eat-in or take-out. You eat a combo meal, and I'll dine for $20 with unlimited Boneless Wings, Riblets & Double Crunch Shrimp + Fries.

thats right. now you said it. this deal has a better value than most fastfood out there. certainly you will have to pay double in out of pocket. people go to fastfood for a reason.

Wrong again. Keep trying.
"It beats most fast food for this price"
Read it again. How do you surmise just cost from that statement? It implies value.
You convinced yourself that it meant something totally different about fast-food costing less and just started criticizing. lol. I guess reading is not fundamental for everyone.

Had there boneless wings during the $0.50 deal and they were awful. Must of changed the chicken because the quality was terrible. Chicken did not even taste real and skin fell right off. Used to love their boneless wings. Such a shame. If you do this deal, don't order them. I can't say for the Shrimp or Riblets

A bowl of pho or ramen starts at $16 in NJ.
An entree at a bar starts at $16.
Local AYCE sushi lunch special is $18 on a weekday.
Not sure where everyone else is from, but I don't think this is a bad deal if you just want to stuff your face.
Can someone please explain why this is a bad deal?
I agree but there will be dummies who try.

I guess that they'll let you wait for about 1 hour between the 1st round and the 2nd round of unlimited wings and they'll give you 5 wings each round.
Na that's just for you
