In case anyone has a similar usage to me: you can use these as the main deco (as a router/access point) *BUT* for any/all configurations you *must* setup a TP-Link ID and use their mobile app for any configuration which may very much limit their usable lifespan. ( https://community.tp-link.com/us/...pic/705214 ) Apparently my existing archer wifi 5 router is my last tp-link device if this is their way forward, *sighs*

I just installed one of these on a friend's patio. Even though there was a x25 unit by a window next to the patio, it was problematic with the smart tv. It really shouldn't have been since the signal was fairly strong. However, the TV kept buffering. I mounted this unit outside and all the problems are gone.

It's not totally flat, there is a slight slope down towards the front. I have one strapped to a palm tree for a couple years now and birds have taken zero interest in it.
