Replaced a tp-link archer c4000 earlier in the month. Last firmware was from late 2025. Router came out in 2019.

Just my 2 cents. I don't know much but I ordered a very similar one. I think it was the non-pro version. I then did a bunch of digging about the "best" and it let me to the router ban info. TP- link is still not approved (last time I looked ) if they do not get approval it will be EOL in 2027. That said I sent mine back it was a nice little upgrade but I don't know enough to know for certain and I did not feel like gambling with 200 for a router.

How does the ban make it EOL in 2027? My understanding was it only affects import of future units, not maintenance of older ones

The ban blocks the sale of new TP-link routers. TP-link routers aren't going to suddenly stop working come 2027, regardless of the approval. Per the FCC: "The Covered List does not restrict the continued use by consumers of previously-purchased devices."

Just to clear this up for both of you, the rule does not even take place till 2029, its already been pushed back multiple times. It also does not EOL anything, it just will stop firmware updates for whatever unit has not been approved. If the device works it works, its that simple, and for the firmware updates while its nice to have most of these devices will already be 5-10 years old by than.....
