This refurbished Roomba j7 plus is a self emptying robot vacuum best known for strong pet hair pickup and obstacle avoidance. Long term use reports it handling cat and dog hair, dusty homes, and wall to wall carpet well, with generic bags and parts easy to find. The mapping can take a long time, and some units arrive defective, miss parts, fail to charge, or struggle with routing, Wi Fi, and docking. It suits buyers who want Roomba cleaning behavior and can tolerate refurb risk.
Pet owners with cat or dog hair on hard floors, because refurb units can run reliably for years and keep floors clean with only occasional brush jams from toys.
Households with dusty, carpet-heavy rooms and long-haired occupants, because the robot handles heavy debris well and the base bags and replacement parts are cheap and easy to find.
People who want a self-emptying robot for unattended cleaning, because it can run while they are away and still deliver strong object avoidance and solid mechanics.
People who expect dependable long-term operation, because some units develop battery-detection errors, constant problems, or the red-ring failure state.
Some refurbs arrive defective, missing parts, or unable to power on/charge, and a few buyers had to return them or fight for support. Others report the unit working well after a replacement motor or battery was sent, so the practical risk is a potentially troublesome refurb process rather than the robot always failing.
Mapping can take a long time, and several reports describe poor routing, slow cleaning, and bumping into furniture or getting stuck. At the same time, long-term owners say the object avoidance and cleaning mechanics are strong once set up, especially in homes with pets, carpet, and dust.
Several comments say Roborock, Dreame, or Eufy models clean faster and navigate better, with one comparison putting a Roborock at about 15 minutes versus an hour for the Roomba. The Roomba still has fans for object avoidance and pet-hair pickup, but the main tradeoff is slower, older navigation tech.
Some units have needed support help for missing batteries or weak suction, including replacement motors that were simple to install. Other owners report years of use with no brush replacements, so maintenance needs appear to depend heavily on the individual refurb.
Yes, it is reported to do well with cat and dog hair, long-haired pets, and long-haired people, keeping floors clean in dusty, carpet-heavy homes. One long-term owner also said they had not needed to replace a brush in three years, and generic parts and base bags are cheap and easy to find.
Product: I got one of these in 2023 (paid retail minus a coupon) and liked it so much that I took a chance on an Amazon refurb ($300?) for my other floor and that was working so well i bought a second refurb. They're all still doing great. The mapping took forever, but the object avoidance and mechanics are LEGIT. we have long haired pets, long haired people, and live in a dusty part of the country and way too much wall to wall carpeting but these machines take care of business. They run when we leave the house and the air quality has never been better. They are work horses and while I've yet to replace a brush in three years, generic parts and bags for the base are cheap and readily available. J series is fire. I series is not as good so do not confuse the two.Store and Price: Nah. Tech drops in price but this is too low. Like scam low. If it were Amazon? Sure. But eBay? I don't know man. I just don't know.
I have the same experience with a couple of refurbs. They have been great, 2 years and still going strong. I payed twice this price and they have been great at picking up cat and dog hair and keeping the floor clean. The only time I've had any issues is if a toy gets stuck in the brushes. Just pull it out and let it finish.
Bought it last year at similar price. Not recommended! Very poor mapping and routing. Do not waste your money on this model at all. Get a Roborock or Eufy or another brand but iRobot

Shoppers who need a robot that maps and routes quickly, because this model can take far longer to finish a room than competing vacuums.
People who expect dependable long-term operation, because some units develop battery-detection errors, constant problems, or the red-ring failure state.
Homes where the robot must reliably dock and stay connected, because it can shut off, lose Wi‑Fi, and fail to return to the charging base.
