My store is still at $404.10, i've been waiting for it to drop. Might just have to drive and get the one 2 hours away if they will let me order it! I am building a fence and will need it for that! I also am doing a sump pump in my crawlspace, anyone know if it would be pretty good for that hole?

An 8" augur would be too small for the sump pit, but you could use it to loosen up the dirt prior to removing it with a shovel or post hole digger. I did mine entirely by hand last year, and having an electric augur would definitely have been nice.

Thank you for sharing! That's kind of what I was thinking just start the hole with it and finish the rest the way out with a shovel! Sorry to ask another question, did you run any drain tile to your sump?

if you can get through it w a shovel it would prob work. If you have to stop and break rock prob not. I'm not kidding about beast mode. if the auger gets hung it will helicopter you quick if you aren't ready to come off of the button.

If you had two people working it, one on each side, it may do the job. Even with the anti-kickback, you need to be careful with this beast as the torque is impressive especially if it hits a rock.

We have one for the Mass Audubon trail crew. I mocked it when it first came off the truck, but quickly ate those words. This thing is a beast, as others have mentioned, and it will break your wrists if you're not paying attention.
