Some good reviews. Ave 3.7 rating. Here's one review from Costco site:

I have had four of the Thermacell Radius units which use the same repellent refills and are electric rechargeable units as this one and have had great results with them. Two of the units I have on a sailboat on the Westcoast and two at my home in AZ. When the mosquitos get active, these work amazingly well and no one in our group gets any bites. They are odorless and if you hold a flashlight up to the top repellent exit vent, once they have been on for a few minutes, you will see a slight whiff of faint smoke every once in a while, and otherwise you don't even know they are on. The refills last longer than is stated on the package and they stay working on one charge for over the rated time estimated by Thermacell. I have given friends and relatives six of them as gifts and everyone loves them. This unit is the new improved model of the Radius model and is supposed to cover a larger area than the Radius. I would rate them more than five stars if that was possible and I also have done a review for the Thermacell website that rates them as high as I can!

Yes they are effective, been using Thermacells for years. They don't keep 100% of mosquitos away, but they definitely help.

Here's a safety summary for anyone that cares about this sort of thing, there are good indications that these products are probably not toxic as long you don't use them as pictured and never around food or open water.

the company states that "the science and data on our ingredients indicate that they should not be of concern, as used the Thermacell product, for people or pets"- when used strictly according to label instructions.
It is highly toxic to fish and aquatic life, including the drift of the product when used as directed.
Despite the photos clearly showing the product inside, and products they use to sell designed to clip to a shirt or backpack, the product directions specify this product should never been used inside or in any enclosed or semi enclosed space or tent, or worn on the body. I cant find it but one of the bigger ones said you shouldnt be near it during operation.
Also all food should be well covered and removed from the area being treated.

I'm not going to link to all.the rpa labeling and safety sheets, but you can look them up for individual products or for thermacell inhredients d-allethrin, prallethrin, and/or metofluthrin, which are all synthetic pyrethroids

Thanks, I've been hesitant about this for safety reasons around food, drinks, and toddlers.
