Any recommended mods/fixes even for a first play through?
depends what kind of mods you're looking for. running this vanilla gave no performance issues but I had a friend who downloaded a mod that gave numeric stat values for skills instead of the vague "light, medium, high, extreme" damage descriptions.
It is a stunning looking game, but watching gameplay seems to be tightly confined to 'rails' and combat is just clicking things and waiting on your turn.
I don't see me enjoying it.

lol you're cute. You say overrated, Square Enix says that they're refocusing on turn based combat for their future RPGs, reworking games such as the next FF7, in a direct response to the success of Clair.
But I get it. Super successful, critically acclaimed, high selling games always bring out the occasional naysayer who proclaims "overrated" as a badge of honor to let people know that they are above the unwashed masses who praised the game.
Anyway - the game is awesome and worthy of its accolades.
