About this Game:
- Star Wars™: Dark Forces Remaster has been brought to life by the team at Nightdive Studios, fully remastered through its proprietary KEX engine. New and returning players will enjoy Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster's upgraded gameplay, high-resolution textures, enhanced lighting and rendering, and support for gamepads. The original 1995 Star Wars: Dark Forces raised the bar for FPS games, offering players a significant degree of movement and interactivity, a large selection of items and power-ups, and engaging environments. In the first Star Wars FPS video game, players assume the role of Kyle Katarn, a defector of the Galactic Empire turned mercenary for hire. Katarn joins the Rebel Alliance's covert operations division tasked with infiltrating the Galactic Empire, where he discovers the secret Dark Trooper Project. The development of this powerful new series of Imperial battle droids and power-armored stormtroopers stands to strengthen the Empire's grip on the galaxy unless Katarn and the Rebel Alliance intervene.

Star Wars Dark Forces Remaster on PS5 is a nostalgic first person shooter that still plays well and brings the classic to current gen consoles. The cleaner presentation and sprite touch ups are the main draw, and the game is praised as excellent with strong Steam Deck performance. The big caveat is that it is not seen as a true remaster, with graphics and level design still feeling very old school. It also has been called overpriced versus PC sales, though the Amazon price looks better than some other storefronts. A solid way to revisit the original if you want it on PS5.
The remaster can deliver a strong nostalgic experience for players returning to Dark Forces.
The game reportedly plays great on Steam Deck despite looking like childhood-era graphics.
The remaster was added to current-gen consoles like PS5, which can make it easier to access.
The remaster can be a convenient way to discover related Star Wars titles available for download.
The remaster reportedly feels more like a slight sprite improvement than a true remaster.
The graphics reportedly still resemble childhood-era visuals, and the look may not feel like an upgrade.
The level design reportedly feels terrible on revisiting, and it may not improve even in high definition.
The remaster may be hard to justify if the original is already owned, since the upgrade is limited.

The level design is terrible, and I doubt it'll get better in high definition. Definitely had some nostalgia going in 😞
