Community Reviews

The Archer BE700 is a WiFi 7 router aimed at fast wireless performance and mesh use, with strong real world speed gains for streaming and remote desktop. The browser interface exposes the full feature set after setup, and it can work in mesh setups, though Deco uses different mesh software and does not integrate cleanly. The port layout draws criticism because the 10 gigabit WAN is paired with only one gigabit LAN and three 2.5 gigabit ports. Setup also leans on the TP Link Tether app for some features, which is a drawback for anyone wanting full web based management.

  • Home network tuners who want a fast all-in-one router, because the wireless is very fast and the browser interface exposes the features after setup.

  • Users building a mesh setup with this router line, because it can work in mesh after configuration.

  • Households streaming 4K on multiple devices, because wireless playback and video loading feel noticeably snappier.

  • People who want to manage advanced settings from a browser, because some features are locked behind the mobile app and there is no full web interface.

  • Owners trying to mix it into an existing Deco mesh, because Deco uses different mesh software and does not integrate cleanly.

  • Wired power users who expect a faster LAN port than 2.5GbE, because the port mix tops out at 2.5Gb on LAN.

  • Wi‑Fi enthusiasts who prefer dedicated access points, because consumer all-in-ones are described as weaker than a separate AP setup.

I don't understand why you would want a 10gig wan and a 1g and three 2.5g ports Surely u would want at least a 5gig or even a 10gig port too
exactly, it's like putting a Mustang Transmission in a Lamborghini

Network engineer here, let me explain;
because the WAN needs much more if there are multiple users on the router, especially the WiFi. Either way, It is highly unlikely one user will max a 2.5 gig lan port, or even the 1g port. 4k streaming uses like 15-25 mbps per device. That means to max the 1 gig lan port, you would need 40 devices all streaming 4k content. 2.5g would be 100 devices. Get where I'm going with this? Even download speed is capped by whatever server you are downloading from and the network adapter of the device you are downloading with. Also, TCP/IP have their own limitation with bandwidth because of the headers. The files have to be broken down into packets and the TCP and IP headers take at least 20 bytes EACH (40 bytes), PER PACKET. So you can only really see a maximum of 2 to 2.25g of real data transfer out of the full 2.5g. The only scenario I can really think of using that much data is file transfers from LAN to LAN port (internal network) using NVME drives and cat6 or higher, in which case you could see a realistic maximum of 250 to 280 MB/s (accounting for TCP/IP headers.)

I have the big brother BE24000 router. Other name for it is the Archer BE900, ver 2.6. I didn't like the Tether software. Forced me to use my phone for basic configuration and had to reset the router twice during the process. Both times had to sit squinting on my phone without the web interface. Annoying! However, once the initial configuration is done, you connect to it through a web browser pointed to its IP address just like any conventional router, and all the features you want are there.

Speed of the wireless is crazy fast. 4K movie streaming is noticably faster and snappier, especially paired with NVidia Shield devices. You will never go back to your built in smart TV after experiencing it. This kind of device makes a REAL WORLD impact, because all streaming is faster and snappier, YouTube videos load quicker with higher quality immediately, Netflix and other streaming services are faster, and other things like remote desktop also feel much more responsive.

I would do my homework and make sure you buy the right device that is well suited for your home, and not something too small or big. I have not been a fan of mesh networks in the past, preferring to use additional routers in bridge mode for that purpose, but these new routers apparently shine in mesh networks too.

Is this any good?
No.. go with a ubiquiti ecosystem with dedicated access points. Or if your tech savvy and can follow some YouTube instructions build your own with openwrt/opensense. Dedicated access points are leagues better then consumer grade all In ones if wifi is important. Zyxel, makes great affordable wifi7 AP
