How long do the batteries usually last? Until you have to recharge again

Depends on settings and activity on the cameras. If its just an animal once in a while its lasts all fall and winter and might go into the summer

Ive also has this 3 camera set since 2017. Got a few batteries so when one runs out I just swap and charge the dead one so its ready again. Charges on the their dock or charger.

Works well without subscription or one of those which require subscription to really be useful?

Useless without subscription. My neighbor had 4 arlo cameras, but he didn't renew subscription. A burglar came and stole his truck's catalytic converter from his driveway

I've had arlo, 5 of them in fact. I absolutely do not recommend them at all. Useless without subscription, motion detection is truly bad in my experience, I'd get clips of like the leg of the mail man as he walked away from my porch. That's it, like part of his back and a leg and or no motion detected at all. Mind you he's in full view for 22ft walking across half the image and then to the camera. Never detected!

Battery life wildly different between identical cameras. The worst battery life was on the camera triggered 1-2x a week only. No IR, no light nothing, yet it required monthly charges with virtually no detections.

Replaced with ring. Better, but again the subscription and then the serious privacy issues with ring.

Currently on Tapo, loving them compared to the others I've tried for home use. Recording to Frigate locally, no subscription needed and they are shockingly cheap. Highly recommend them! Reolink is also supposed to be very good but so far I'm perfect content with Tapo. If you have darker area the colorpro model is amazing in low light, works fantastic as a driveway camera for me anyway.

It seems camera choices are getting worse or more expensive as time goes instead of getting cheaper or more variety. Check the Ring pricing makes no sense for a basic camera $100, nothing crazy feature wise. Then wyze, I have 10+ wyze cams and lately some of them act up one way or another.. It's really a messy situation not being able to find reliable, wired cameras.

Did any of you here actually read the description of what comes in the box? From Best Buy's website: What's in the box - (1) Smart Hub .... what's a smart hub? https://us.arlo.com/collections/a...540-100nas

Securely connect your Arlo cameras to the internet using reliable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, while providing long-range connectivity and better battery life for your devices. Store video recordings, events, and images using a USB port.
Look, big letters. Three of them. USB port, as in you don't need a subscription to store the video. You can you an external storage drive.
I don't know why you people here are fearmongering people reading these comments other than to just shit on Arlo because it pushes a subscription. People who can't be bothered to read the production description and jump to conclusions are insufferable.
