Curious to see if any of these deals actually happen. Especially the Nintendo games like Super Mario RPG. They do not like making their games affordable anymore.
I miss Nintendo Select, Player's Choice, and the like.
This GameStop sale is strongest for Mario and Luigi Brothership, Super Mario RPG, and other Nintendo and RPG titles at around $15, with some in store stacks bringing the total even lower. The best value comes from pairing the $10 off two new games Pro promo with rewards or monthly credits, and a few local pickups came sealed or complete. The main catch is inventory and fulfillment, since many listings were out of stock, pickup orders were canceled, and online orders sometimes arrived open box, gutted, or used despite being sold as new. It is a solid price if you can verify stock in person and do not mind some packaging risk.
Shoppers who only care about playing the game, because $15 can still be a strong value even when packaging is open or missing.
Shoppers needing reliable inventory, because store listings can show out of stock while nearby locations still have copies or cancel pickup orders later.
Some copies arrive sealed, but others arrive open-box, gutted, or with generic black cases even when ordered as new. In-store pickup is safer if you want to inspect the condition before accepting it.
Yes, the $10 off 2 new games Pro promo can stack in store, and a $5 reward can be applied too. That can drop two new games to about $15 total or around $10 each depending on the combo.
Yes, pickup orders have been canceled after placement, sometimes because the store could not hold the item or because it was not picked up in time. Some orders also never got a ready email, so checking stock and timing in person matters.
No, the website and app can show items as out of stock even when stores have copies on the shelf, and inventory can change by location. Checking in person has worked for several shoppers, especially before scalpers clear stock.
No, the $15 price is for new copies; pre-owned listings can show lower prices such as $13.99 or other used pricing. Some shoppers found the pre-owned versions cheaper, but the new deal is the one tied to the advertised sale.
Mario and Luigi Brothership is one of the worst games I've ever played. Great deal on Super Mario RPG though.
for some reasons they sold all 7 brothership that they had inhand since this morning. for online orders.
and for some other reasons. my account is a pro account since 2023. was there a deal back then that i signed up and paid for and forgot to cancel it?
Went in to pick up my order. They gave me two black cases not sealed original cases. Asked them I ordered new not used! They told me it's new game but just don't have the cases since people steals the prints all the time and decided to do different way to sell new games? I wonder if I got fooled. I haven't ordered games from game stop for a while and I don't understand why they changes so much.
Sure enough, one of my new Mario games was open box. They told me at pickup. Condition was great, and for the price not bad. But it's bizarre that a publicly traded company would do that.
If I order for shipping, does GameStop ship opened games or without box in paper sleeve as "new" condition?
You won't know ahead of time, but yes, they absolutely ship used games as "new". I stopped buying online from them when I received games in generic boxes (no artwork or original cases) even though I paid for and ordered new games.
GameStop being GameStop, I ordered multiple of each game I wanted online for delivery. Hopefully I get actual new copies. I'll return any that look like they have been run over a car.
I can't remember the last time I ordered a new game at GameStop and didn't either get a gutted copy, just a disc/cartridge, and/or have at least one be missing entirely. People say never to preorder games but I really miss the days of having my account loaded up with preorders and popping into the store on launch day to pick it up. That was magical and fun.
As someone who owns but has yet to get around to Brothership, every time I see a deal that includes it, I have to brace myself for the bit of buyer's remorse I know I'm about to experience based on the inevitable negative comments I know I'm about to read!

GameStop Pro stacking can reduce the effective per-game cost when buying two new games.
In-store pickup can let you refuse the order immediately if the copy is not new.
Super Mario RPG can show up as a sealed new copy when purchased through pickup.
Some shoppers report getting multiple $15 titles for under $40 shipped when ordering both games together.
Online fulfillment can send gutted or incorrect cases, and returns or exchanges may be difficult.
Pickup and online orders can be canceled after ordering, including cancellations tied to pickup timing.
Inventory availability can be unreliable, with website stock changing and local stores showing out-of-stock.
Shipping and postage due can add unexpected costs, and some deliveries arrive late or with used condition.
