edit: i think it initially said AZ buds and i thought it meant 100s, now i see these are 80's.. price isnt competive for some one trying to get a major discount id say
But very limited supply
Bc of the planned obsolescence?
Then I went to Galaxy 3 Buds Pro open box for $70, as listed on here, which are newer buds supposed to be on par, but they felt cheap and I returned them, hated the touch controls, hated the way they went into the charging case, and they confirmed that I hate stem-style earbuds. My fingers are too big... I liked the XM4's shape, style and finish a real lot.
But I didn't want to spend 300+ dollars on the new XM6's because I didn't think my XM4's -- or any buds -- were worth much over $100.
Then I got Baseus BP1 Pro for like 10-12 dollars on ebay, seemingly new, and to me they are like 80% as good as premium buds. If I was really smart I would only buy cheap earbuds from now often -- especially because if I really want a premium listening experience, I shouldn't use buds; period.
The XM over ear headphones are SO much better than earbuds -- and I imagine the same for the majority of manufacturers that offer both. I paid about $55 for my XM3 overears YEARS ago and they are leagues above any earbud I've ever tried. I happened to 'need' a new set of earbuds as I do a lot of loud stuff at work, and use earbuds to help reduce noise damage... but I couldn't justify buying near-MSRP prices for AZ-100's or XM6's, which, aside from the B+W Pi8's, were the two main buds on my radar. At sub $150 I've still turned down the XM6 and the AZ-100, though in all fairness, if I could have checked out of Woot with the AZ-100's for $128, new, plus probably some cash back... I would have pulled the plug.
