TP Link Deco BE25 is a WiFi 7 mesh system that stands out for fast wired backhaul, 2.5 gigabit ports, and strong coverage when set up with a wired or wireless backhaul. Early setup reports describe great speeds and outstanding coverage, and the Prime Visa back offer can make the price much more attractive. The main cautions are that firmware should be updated right away to avoid Fast Roaming issues, parental controls are weak without a subscription, and this cheaper WiFi 7 model does not include 6 gigahertz support. It looks best for homes that can lean on wired backhaul and do not need the full WiFi 7 feature set.

  • The BE25 units offer 2.5Gb WAN/LAN ports for multi-gig wired devices and backhaul.

  • The mesh system can deliver strong early speeds and outstanding coverage after setup.

  • The setup supports both wired and wireless backhaul, and adding a switch can help expand connectivity.

  • Using wired backhaul can be faster and more reliable than relying on wireless backhaul.

  • The system lacks 6GHz support, which can limit compatibility with newer WiFi 7 devices and backhaul options.

  • Fast roaming may not work as expected unless the firmware is updated after receiving the system.

  • Parental controls can be poor unless you pay for TP-Link's subscription service.

  • Wireless backhaul may not behave as expected, and wired backhaul is recommended for better performance.

Is this the brand that needs to setup online account for it?
It is, but it also has a minimal web interface. But the best way to use these is to turn an old micro PC into an OPNSense router/firewall and then use these as WiFi access points on a wired backhaul. Way more secure, they perform better without the routing features enabled, they've got 2.5Gb ports over CAT5e and newer, and unlike American router companies, OPNSense won't be compromised by our own government.

Weird, I have an Orbi with an online account from several years ago and have never been pushed to upgrade the hardware.
Had this happen recently for an older Orbi Mesh system.

Same. I just received an end of service notification at the beginning of the month for my RBK53.

Happened to me with my Google WiFi (tp-link based). Not sure if it was Google only, or if it happens with others in that product line

I read here that if you want to rely on wireless backhaul, you want at least TRI band mesh system. If you are setting up wired backhaul it should be fine, even then my tplink X55 is crap shoot in terms of speed even with POE.
The wireless backhaul doesn't necessarily work the way most people think it would. Using wired backhaul is MUCH better, faster and more reliable. The BE25's can do 2.5Gbps wired where the similar-looking BE23 only does does gigabit. Both are still faster than wireless.

fyi these cheap wifi7 systems don't have 6Ghz band
Yeah. I didn't even know they could call it wifi 7 without using 6ghz channel. You guys might want to pay a little more for a wifi 7 mesh that actually includes the 6ghz wifi channel introduced in wifi 6e standard. What's the point of going wifi 7 if you don't have the new channel?? (prob multi connect and better mesh to mesh handoff but 6ghz is missing from this hardware and 6ghz is important - it can be used for new wifi 7 supported devices and/or as backhaul for wifi 7 mesh connections. And 6ghz is prob less congested since it's a newer wifi band)
