Community Reviews

Verbatim DVD plus R Life Series blanks are being treated as a low cost option for archiving, backups, and burning movies or TV shows. The discs are described as holding up well over time, with examples of media still reading after nearly 18 to 23 years. The main drawback is that Life Series is the cheaper Verbatim line, not the premium AZO dye version, and these are not dual layer discs. That makes them a practical pick for basic storage when capacity and top tier media quality are not the priority.

  • People archiving files on optical media, because these discs can still read cleanly after more than two decades in storage.

  • Households burning TV seasons or movies for offline viewing, because a single disc stack can cover large amounts of video content.

  • Backup users who want better error correction, because +R discs are preferred for long-term data storage.

  • Archivists who want the most durable blank media, because the organic dye can deteriorate over time.

  • People needing dual-layer capacity, because these are single-layer discs only.

  • Burners who want premium AZO media, because this Life Series line is the cheaper non-AZO version.

You toss them into your computer's cupholder and burn them.

Got binders and stacks of these filled with torrented anime from animesuki and tokyotosho. Tested one of them late last year, and it read no issues. 23 years later, not bad at all.

Though truth be told...CDR is probably more valuable than these now for mixing music. Fun fact...the 2025 Lexus IS was the last car with a built in CD player. The 2010 SC430 was the last car with a built in cassette deck.
