This is a strong value 9070 XT deal, with the card praised for solid performance and near 5070 Ti class results at a much lower price. The $629 tag is described as only a little above MSRP and attractive versus current Nvidia pricing, especially for buyers weighing a 6800 XT upgrade or a 4K, high frame rate setup. The main cautions are reported driver crashes on some Gigabyte cards and concern about past thermal gel issues on the 9000 series. Its 11.3 inch length also makes it easier to fit in tighter cases.
Common Questions (5)
For many users it may not be a necessary upgrade, since the 6800 XT is still considered very capable and one owner did not view the 9070 XT as a clear upgrade. The main reasons to move up are higher raster performance, much stronger ray tracing, and potential FSR 4 support on the 9000 series.
Yes. It is about $30 above MSRP and is described as one of the best 9070 XT deals seen lately, especially versus current 5070 Ti pricing. Several comments also call it strong value relative to Nvidia equivalents.
Some users report persistent AMD driver crashes in games like World of Warcraft even after rolling back drivers, while others say the same card has run WoW for hundreds of hours without a single crash. The practical takeaway is that stability appears system- or setup-dependent rather than universal.
There are concerns about Gigabyte 9000-series cards having thermal gel that can leak, though it may have been fixed. Some comments also warn about prior Gigabyte driver-crash experiences, while others praise Gigabyte's manufacturing and low failure rates.
Yes, the card is 11.3 inches long, which can leave enough room for a front-mounted 360 AIO in some cases. That makes it a useful option if GPU clearance is tight.

Worth it to upgrade from 6800 xt since it's getting fsr 4?
If you're able to resell the 6800 XT, you could recoup some of the cost. Currently, it tends to sell somewhere between $350 and $400 used.
I upgraded from a RTX 3080 (which is pretty comparable to a 6800 XT) to the 9070 XT about a year ago, and I noticed a big difference. I game at 4K resolution, and my 3080 often did not have enough available VRAM to run some games well enough.
Although FSR 4 is coming to 7000 series cards very soon, FSR 4 on 6000 series cards is still about a year away according to Jack Huynh from AMD. AMD has to do a lot of re-engineering to get FSR 4 working on 6000 and 7000 series cards because these cards use integer (INT8) calculations rather than the better floating point (FP8) calculations found on the 9000 series cards. So it's unknown what the overall quality enhancement and performance will be on 6000 series compared to 9000 series cards. I don't doubt FSR 4 will look great on 6000 series cards, just unsure if the FPS gain for example of FSR 4 will be equivalent to 9000 series or if the overall quality will be a 100%, 1:1 match.
While I would have much preferred the Power Color, or an XFX- at $629, this is the best 9070 XT deal I have seen lately (minus sold out in seconds woot one-offs).
