Ecobee Smart Thermostat Essential is a budget Wi Fi thermostat that stands out for easy app and web control, a natural touchscreen interface, and solid compatibility with central AC and hydronic baseboards. The current deal looks especially strong at this price, with checkout discounts sometimes dropping it into the mid 30 dollar range. It also works well with remote sensors and can be a handy backup or cabin thermostat. Main caveats are the need for a C wire or adapter, limited support for dual stage or 2 stage systems, and occasional temperature or humidity accuracy complaints.

  • The checkout flow can apply both Save 40% and Save 15% discounts, producing a lower total after tax.

  • The thermostat can connect to central AC and hydronic baseboards right out of the box.

  • The Essentials can work well for replacing builder-grade thermostats when selecting the Like-New condition.

  • The device can support remote temperature sensors, which helps with comfort across rooms.

  • The Essentials requires a C-wire for installation, which may require extra wiring or an adapter.

  • The thermostat can show temperature and humidity readings that are offset versus other thermometers.

  • The Essentials does not support 2-stage gas heating, which can limit compatibility versus ecobee 3 Lite.

  • The ecobee ecosystem can require a subscription for door sensor integration that shuts off heat or cooling.

Any reason to replace a working Sensi Touch (1st Version) with this model? Smallish house around 1400 SF, single floor, no remote sensors.
Not necessarily replace, but have one just in case. One of our two Sensi died a while ago and since it used to do the job found another used which works fine now. I would get one of these as a backup. Just make sure it is functional before the return window closes.

I have this thermostat. Like it a lot better than Nest. The touchscreen UI feels very natural unlike the Nest UI which I really hate. Lot of options. Paid 75$ for it new. This is a slick deal.

I'm only getting the 15% off when I go to checkout. The 40% off isn't appearing.

I feel the same way. Had the nest before I switched to Ecobee. Love it so much more. As a bonus, right out the box I was able to connect it to my Central AC AND my hydronic baseboards that run heat from an oil burner unit.

I believe the premium (most expensive) model does handle dual HVAC not the Essentials model.

Is anyone's like new thermostat registering the wrong temperature? It says 74 when my govee thermometer registers 76/77. It also doesn't feel like 74. I was able to adjust the temperature to +3, but just curious if i got a funky unit. The humidity was also off by like 15% but that seems to have self adjusted. I have like 4 govee thermometers in the home so I have a pretty good feeling when things are at a certain humidity or if the temp feels off.

Yes! Mine was reading about 3 degrees lower. I let it self adjust for 24 hours and then had to add a +3.0 offset. Every other thermometer in the house, even right next to the ecobee, would read 75 while this read 72. Humidty was over 15% off. It seemed like the temperature offset would confuse the unit as well. I'd check it and it would show 72 but then would jump to 75 or 76 a second later, then it would drop back down to 72. Sending mine back. I literally only use a "smart" thermostat to set to Auto mode so we never have to switch it, and to be able to adjust the temperature while travelling. I did like the Ecobee detailed reporting and Web control but want it to at least be consistent.
