The P1 worked very well when I had my smoker and BBQ on my back patio. However a remodel/addition required me to relocate them to another location on the opposite side of our house from the kitchen. The P1 worked okay most of the time but occassionally lost communication with the probe.
That prompted the upgrade to G1 and I've never looked back. Communication is always locked in...even when I take the base station with me to the kitchen.

They both have conflicting ambient temperature information in their descriptions/pics. Manuals seem to suggest Typhur has a higher ambient max temp at a lower suggested price.
