Wait till Back to School days if you can, lots of retailers (Staples and Kroger come to mind) will have 1-subject college ruled notebooks for under a quarter each. That is, if history serves.

Sure but not good quality ones. You get what you pay for with those deals.

Maybe so, but these are not eight times better as the price differential might have you believe.

On the other hand, if you want one right now, by all means, get it.

Note the size. These are not standard sized notebooks. That being said, this smaller size can be handy for tracking assignments, workouts, tracking mileage in your vehicle, etc.

Everyday price on these personal sized five star notebooks at Walmart is around $2.20. That is less than I would have thought, but I might be getting these mixed up with the fat style 5 star personal notebook.

Note that this posting is for a personal sized notebook, not the standard size that comes to mind.
But when it comes to standard size spiral notebooks, over the past five years or so, the deals that used to come around every year at back to school time have changed dramatically. At least, the places where I normally shop (which do not include big office stores) simply do not have that kind of bargain anymore. Largely for that reason, I have started buying five star notebooks (and others of a similar quality) for my kids because the beefed up notebooks hold up so much better, and the less expensive notebooks aren't nearly as cheap as they used to be.
