Pretty solid deal, if the VRAM wasn't limited I probably would have jumped on this to replace my desktop. Trying to go more minimalist.

Per most reviews solid build quality, good cooling, but when heavy usage yes it gets loud.

I've been looking to replace my failing MSI gaming laptop and this falls into my desired price range. I don't game much at all, with Diablo IV being my most current title. Basically , I just like the ability to upgrade the RAM and storage. I also have been doing very basic editing (Capcut) of the videos from my son's baseball games. I'm leaning towards a Legion, but the TUF is an option too and I've been an Asus fan for years.

Just test it thoroughly when you get it, cause Asus does not honor open box warranties from best buy. They usually will only give you a remainder of when it left the factory.

Thanks for that tip. I've been lucky enough to never have to warranty something, but that streak has to end at some point.

I got mine from The Best Buy Outlet in Burbank, IL. it was a "fair" for $1,057 plus tax. It came in a generic BB blue box and included the charger. I ran OCCT stress tests, Cinebench and other benchmarking software to put it through it's paces and it passed with flying colors with good temps mostly. Best deal I could find for a decent gaming laptop given the current prices.

The only downside is the crap screen colors, looks faded as hell as I am used to Macbook Pros and my color calibrated BenQ monitor. But I guess my kid will use it mostly connected to an external monitor. The body had no flaws, just a little leftover glue from a sticker on the lid, no scratches and no battery cycles. No clue why it was an open box.
