I liked this game but never finished. This was a PSP game that they remastered as basically a PS4 launch title, so it's pretty raw in places like the environments. Also the story is... not that great since they throw like 20 characters at you with barely any development.

Final Fantasy is my all-time favorite series and I've literally played every Final Fantasy game ever made except for a few now dead mobile games. On my tier list of every game, this is one of the WORST games in the series, only being beaten by Dissidia NT. This game has next to no redeeming qualities. Even the music, which should at least be okay, gets boring and repetitive very quickly.

When this game originally released, they included a demo of Final Fantasy XV with it and it was the ONLY way to play the demo. It was clear, even back then, that they knew this game wouldn't sell unless they did something like that, and for good reason.

Stay far, far away from this game.

my only advice to those who play FF13 series (about 7 games total including this game and FF15), is to at least take a look at fabula nova crystallis and what it is about, before jumping into the game.

The story is convoluted and doesn't make any sense until you're about 75% complete with the game, but if you stick with it, you'll learn to enjoy the combat. The ending is beautiful.

Absolutely, Crisis Core is much more story-oriented, with a more-established lore. Type-O was originally a part of the Final Fantasy XIII Fabula Nova Crystallis chronicles, a group of three games that were supposed to be a part of Final Fantasy XIII's lore. Of the two that were not FFXIII, one of them became FFXV, the other became FF Type-O. Originally a PSP game in Japan-only (and very fully-featured for being a PSP game), this is the console-ized, HD version of the original PSP game. It definitely still plays and feels like a PSP game, even more than Crisis Core Reunion or MGS: Peace Walker HD.
