In terms of performance, this should be a step above the cheapo Walmart(Onn)/Amazon-branded tablets and a step below the base iPad or the Samsung S10 Lite series. My unc has one and it's fine for watching conspiracies videos on YouTube and browsing the web. Watching a picture-in-picture video while simultaneously rambling on the facebooks is also fine.
Closest competitor to this like another comment alluded to is the Samsung A11+. The A11+ has a better CPU and longer software support while the Lenovo has slightly more RAM and a better display. If someone has a budget of sub $200 and just wants to do media consumption than this Lenovo Idea Tab should be fine.
Community Reviews
The Lenovo Idea Tab is a budget 11 inch Android tablet that stands out for its 2.5K screen, included pen, and solid media use. It handles streaming, web browsing, reading, YouTube, and light gaming well, with Balatro, Roblox, Minecraft, GTA San Andreas, and even some retro emulation getting positive real world use. The headphone jack, USB C fast charging, and 8GB RAM make it feel more capable than cheap entry tablets. The main drawback is the MediaTek 6300, which keeps it from feeling fast for heavier multitasking or demanding apps, and the 480 gram weight may matter if you want something very light. A practical pick for everyday entertainment and casual use.
Common Questions (5)
Yes, the tablet includes a Lenovo Pen/Tab Pen Plus in the box, and buyers mention using it right away for notes and general use. The box contents listed in comments include the charging cable, 45W adapter, guides, and microSD tray pin, with the pen called out separately on Lenovo's product page.
It is fine for YouTube, streaming, browsing, email, and light gaming, but it is still a low-end MediaTek tablet and can feel sluggish with heavier web pages or too many apps open. For basic media use under $200 it should be adequate, but it is not a productivity or multitasking machine.
It can handle lighter games and emulation well, including Roblox, Fortnite, Minecraft, GTA: San Andreas, Balatro, and retro systems like Dreamcast, N64, PSX, and PSP. Heavier GameCube, PS2, or Switch emulation will be limited and may struggle.
At around $150, it is considered a strong value for an 8GB RAM tablet with a 2.5K screen, especially for media consumption and light use. The main tradeoff is that the CPU is still entry-level, so paying more gets noticeably better performance in the Pro model or other higher-end tablets.
The regular Idea Tab is listed at about 480g / 1.06 lb, which is comparable to other 10-11 inch tablets. That weight is still noticeable for handheld use, but it is not unusually heavy for this size class.

I also figure this will be my last Android tablet until Google's Aluminum OS comes out in 2028. This is suppose to help with updates.
Realistically, $200-400 laptops tend to be quite crappy. If you want something that actually performs decently, you'd need to go up to the $450-600 range.
With that said, tablet vs laptop really depends on what you want to do. My parents both have basic iPads (YouTube, Netflix, Facebook). Neither of them have ever owned laptops nor have any interest getting one. My dad's iPad is the 2017 iPad 5th gen and it still serves him well.
Admittedly, official software updates tend to be lacking on Android.
This... to slow IMHO. It will work but it will be sluggish. I put up a post about how to use a slow tablet.
The Pro... this is AMAZING, it is incredible deal regarding specs.
Galaxy Tab S9 FE... this is not a great tablet when you compare it to the Lenovo Idea Tab PRO. The Galaxy uses UFS 2.2 when the Lenovo uses UFS 3.1... HUGE difference in hard drive transfer speeds. Also the Exynos 1380 is slower then the MT8300 which is found on the Pro. And the bloatware is insane and that also lowers your speed.
The Lenovo outclasses the Samsung in raw power, display quality, and value. We are talking about the Pro model.

I will add that I got my mom a ipad years ago... she joined a book club and purchased her books from the istore... I found out years later she spent on average $12 more on every single book she purchased because apple charged more. I am not happy with apple for this. She purchased a book every month (book club)... So it went on for about five years... 12 * 12 * 5 = $720. And yes, she could have purchased it from many different locations but my mom is old and her mind does not work like it use to and I can't expect my mom to search the web for the best price on a book she wants to read on her ipad when there is the istore. Another reason why I hate apple.
Here's my question for you- I purchased the idea tab to solely use as a streaming device- watching Netflix and YouTube TV etc and light internet browsing. I will not do any gaming or computing with the tab. Is it worth returning the tab for the pro for my use case? Will I be paying extra for just another inch in display size? If that's the case, it's probably not worth it to me. Or will I notice a much improved streaming or browsing experience with the pro? Interested in your thoughts- appreciate it!

Personally though, I think the 12.7" Idea Tab Pro is too big for couch surfing.
If you're just browsing, media playback or light gaming. This is a good tablet for just that. Real productivity comes from how you're gonna use this and with what along with for what. Meaning don't expect to do graphic design or web design or whatever a $800 tablet can do.
I was working remote using an amazons fire table (their more expensive ones) as a costumer rep for a large bank for a whole year. Every software needed was web based which made easier to work with. The few times I needed a windows pc I just remote controlled one from their servers.
With that being said, I purchased this tablet after much research. If I was able to use a fire max 11 tablet with just 4gb to do a paid job, I don't need anything fancy and this will do just fine.
There's a firstoolbox that helps make fire tablets more usable.
So I am also a tablet person and my philosophy is to stay away from Samsung tablets...
1. Samsung has been fighting with google for the last decade... this is probably the reason for the new OS that will be coming out..."Aluminium OS". The fight is always about the users security and control of the OS.
2. Many updates don't ever get to the Samsung product because Samsung does not push them out
3. Hundreds/thousands of additional vulnerabilities due to One Ui, something you need to consider.
4. Many (most) updates get delayed until they push them out, it could be delayed like a year and during that time your tablet is vunerable (happened in 2025 with google play system update... was delayed FOR A YEAR)
5. APPLCOUD this is the new app that spies and you and has access to install software based on your web habits. And you can not disable this app. And some rando company paid Samsung MILLIONS to install this.. it is not even controlled by Samsung!!!
6. The bloatware, Samsung is KING and again, this comes with one UI bloatware, Bixly bloatware, hundreds of apps - all bloatware. This bloatware slows you down.
Also, I don't know of any tablet that you can change out the battery... but they all can be done, I recommend using a professional service, one that has all the tools. But really, by the time your battery is no good, I bet you that it was time to buy a new tablet years earlier.
Also, I would not buy a tablet with 6GB of RAM. You are asking for issues in the near future.
About the Chinese tariffs, it use to be no tariffs if the item cost below $800 and was shipped to you directly from China and China subsidized the delivery cost. This is almost over, you can still find decent CHEAP tablets but they are not as cheap as they use to be. The only cheap Chinese tablet that I can recommend is the Poco M1 tablet but AT THESE PRICES (THIS LENOVO DEAL)... it is a no brainier, you are getting a faster tablet for less money.
And I would NOT buy this tablet and I would get the more expensive one $235ish (from Lenovo)... the better screen, the better CPU, IMHO is worth it. I am now looking for a foam case for this tablet.
I have Samsung Tab S6 replacement battery handy, awaiting to apply.

In addition don't you think the average person would want to spend $224 on a tablet that has a MT8300 cpu? Not to mention UFS 3.1 and 8GB of RAM and 144Hz screen. It is the CPU that makes this deal so sweat, about equal to a Snap Dragon 8 Gen 2... while it is not the best, it is still up there
