Speed bits (spade with a lead screw instead of a point) are very aggressive. Perhaps my cordless drill is underpowered, but every time I try to drill through a stud (which tend to be rock hard), the lead screw pulls the bit in so aggressively the bit jambs in the hole and spins the drill. I am considering filing down the threads on my speed bits.

This just means you need to hold on better and brace for it. My daughter has the same issue laugh out loud
