Pretty good deal with quality tools.
Wish this kit included the dcd800 or dcd801 drill, instead of the dcd799.

I'm glad we're finally seeing big discounts on all-brushless DeWalt combo kits without a bunch of low-value fluff (multiple bags, old models they've been trying to clear out since 2009, etc.).

But I already have close-enough equivalents to most of these, so I won't buy this one. 😂

One important note:
  • The DCD800 and DCD801 are NOT hammer drills.
  • Their hammer-drill counterparts are:
    • DCD805 = hammer version of DCD800
    • DCD806 = hammer version of DCD801

I more or less bought and use all these tools. I usually aim for getting Dewalt tools at $90 to $100 a tool. Seems like a good starter kit

Dewalt isn't as good as it used to be, but this is a good price for a weekend warrior that is just getting started. I purchased a similar set (different brand) when I first bought a house 10 years ago, and I have used EVERY tool since then. It's worth it if you do your own handyman work.

With Dewalt's quality declining what brand would you recommend? Makita? Milwaukee?

I already have the 20V Dewalt drill and impact driver. Great tools! I already have these other type of power tools but they are corded (Dewalt angle grinder, Craftsman reciprocating saw, Craftsman circular saw and Bosch oscillating tool) so I wouldn't get this deal. I definitely recommend Dewalt tools and accessories though from my experience. Powerful and the batteries hold good charge.

All these brands have nice customer service as well, you really can't go wrong. I went Milwaukee because my Dad had older Milwaukee stuff that still performed well. But I highly rec DeWalt as well. It really comes down to how each feels in your hands. Once you get into a battery platform, you just keep buying those to make it easy.

Dewalt quality isn't declining, at least no more so than the other major brands. But i think they are diluting the brand with the 10 different models of the same tool with out discontinuing the old stuff.

Promos code isn't working for me but this is a great deal. Love the 7¼ saw vs the 6½ that I've been seeing in most sets or on shelves in stores

It's actual almost tool specific. But, Makita is a solid bet in most cases. At least, it is the closest that you can get to what Dewalt quality used to be.
