This all brushless DeWalt 20V Max six tool combo kit is viewed as a strong starter set for weekend DIY work, with quality tools, solid power, and batteries that hold a good charge. The 7 1 4 inch saw is a welcome upgrade over the smaller 6 1 2 inch saw found in many sets, and the price lands in a range that fits a good per tool benchmark. The main drawback is the included DCD799 drill, which is less preferred than the DCD800 or DCD801 style options. The TOUGH10 code also does not work on this deal, so the appeal is mostly in the bundle itself.

  • The kit includes all-brushless DeWalt tools that can help avoid low-value add-ons.

  • The combo kit can work well as a weekend DIY starter when building a DeWalt 20V platform.

  • The included 7-1/4 inch saw is preferred over the more common 6-1/2 inch saw size.

  • The drill and impact driver platform can deliver strong power with batteries that hold a good charge.

  • The advertised coupon code does not work for this deal, which can reduce the expected savings.

  • The drill model included, DCD799, is less desirable than hammer-drill options like DCD800 or DCD801.

  • The kit may not be ideal if you already own the 20V drill and impact driver.

  • The hammer-drill equivalents are DCD805 and DCD806, so buyers wanting hammer drilling should verify model numbers.

Pretty good deal with quality tools.
Wish this kit included the dcd800 or dcd801 drill, instead of the dcd799.

I'm glad we're finally seeing big discounts on all-brushless DeWalt combo kits without a bunch of low-value fluff (multiple bags, old models they've been trying to clear out since 2009, etc.).

But I already have close-enough equivalents to most of these, so I won't buy this one. 😂

One important note:
  • The DCD800 and DCD801 are NOT hammer drills.
  • Their hammer-drill counterparts are:
    • DCD805 = hammer version of DCD800
    • DCD806 = hammer version of DCD801

I more or less bought and use all these tools. I usually aim for getting Dewalt tools at $90 to $100 a tool. Seems like a good starter kit

Dewalt isn't as good as it used to be, but this is a good price for a weekend warrior that is just getting started. I purchased a similar set (different brand) when I first bought a house 10 years ago, and I have used EVERY tool since then. It's worth it if you do your own handyman work.

With Dewalt's quality declining what brand would you recommend? Makita? Milwaukee?

I already have the 20V Dewalt drill and impact driver. Great tools! I already have these other type of power tools but they are corded (Dewalt angle grinder, Craftsman reciprocating saw, Craftsman circular saw and Bosch oscillating tool) so I wouldn't get this deal. I definitely recommend Dewalt tools and accessories though from my experience. Powerful and the batteries hold good charge.

All these brands have nice customer service as well, you really can't go wrong. I went Milwaukee because my Dad had older Milwaukee stuff that still performed well. But I highly rec DeWalt as well. It really comes down to how each feels in your hands. Once you get into a battery platform, you just keep buying those to make it easy.

Dewalt quality isn't declining, at least no more so than the other major brands. But i think they are diluting the brand with the 10 different models of the same tool with out discontinuing the old stuff.

Promos code isn't working for me but this is a great deal. Love the 7¼ saw vs the 6½ that I've been seeing in most sets or on shelves in stores

It's actual almost tool specific. But, Makita is a solid bet in most cases. At least, it is the closest that you can get to what Dewalt quality used to be.
