Interesting that the 2.5 ah battery is being bundle with the saw.

I would think not much saw time with the 2.5ah. May be its good for a hedge or string timmer not sure about the saw.

I picked one of these up a few years ago when a storm came through and knocked over a smallish tree in our yard. I want to say the battery back then was 2.0Ah too. I remember being very impressed with the battery life because it lasted both days it took me to chop up the tree. Each cut was probably <10sec, so even if it took 1000 cuts that was only ~15min of run time.

Two of my friends have this saw and swear by it. The three of us are elderly gentlemen and need the lightweight of the 2.5 amp hour battery. I'm in for one. Also, Lowe's has the 2.5 amp battery for $99 if you want to pick up a spare.

I have a decent 50cc 18" bar saw. But it's such a pain in the butt to get it started up smoothly, plus extremely loud. I'm very tempted to get one of these and see if I can replace it for a more practical use case. I have a bunch of smaller battery saws I use constantly. The only time I break out the gas saw is when I have a ton of cutting to do.

Actually, if you're just doing some storm cleanup, or even just a fair amount of trimming, the 2.5Ah battery is perfect. With EGO's ARC battery system, you don't really get more power with a larger battery, just more time, so my own strategy is to use the appropriate sized battery for the job in order to preserve the lightest weight possible for the tool. If you are not familiar, EGO batteries, being 56V are heavy when compared to typical 18V or 20V Max batteries. I use a 4Ah battery if I have a LOT of cutting to do, but sometimes I'll just grab a second 2.5Ah battery if I'm running down to 1 bar (out of 5) on the first battery. Never a great idea to stress a lithium battery by completely draining it. You'll get a lot more mileage out of your batteries that way. As far as the 16" saw goes, I'll grab it over an 18" or 20" 90% of the time. The current model replaced their previous mediocre powered model, and it's a winner IMO. Love it. This is a great price BTW. I paid $249 on sale at Lowes. No regrets.

Correct. Smaller battery does not mean lesser power rather reduced time. I have rest of the Ego tools (except saw) and 2.5 on the 765 blower runs out very quickly but does give the lighest weight to your point. I remove battery little bit after I get 1 bar out of 5 bars and hardly run to the red blinking state. One of the good practice on these battery.

I have one and love it. It lasts longer than you think it would. I'm older and my shoulders are trashed. It's soon nice not to have to crank on a pull starter. I'd definitely buy one again.

Buying a battery-powered chainsaw is like when you bought your first digital camera - you never went back to the film camera. I have never gone back to my gas chainsaw. I have the 4.0 battery version with his exact saw, and it has PLENTY of run time

If it helps. This is equivalent to 7.5ah battery at 18v. It's larger than you think. Higher voltage means it will likely draw less amps so it doesn't make a huge difference

Got it from Lowe's a few months ago to deal with some overgrown yucca in the yard. Has made short work of them, and was left with 3 of 4 "bars" on the 2.5ah battery meter. Same with some small palms.

This saw beats gas for starting and corded for convenience. I have multiple 2.5ah and a few 5.0ah batteries because I'm well-invested in the ecosystem. Ego products have been good to me overall.
