Real specs:
- Brondell Aurabeat: CADR 221, 5-stage with UV + plasma + AG+ silver
- Winix C545: CADR 243/232/246 (dust/smoke/pollen), 360 sq ft, WiFi + Alexa — routinely $120-150
- Winix 5500-2: same CADR class, 360 sq ft, remote instead of WiFi (discontinued, replaced by 5510)
The Brondell's "1,655 sq ft" claim is marketing fluff at minimal ACH. Actual CADR is LOWER than the C545 at the same price. What you're really paying for is the COVID virus-kill testing (MRIGlobal SARS-CoV-2 marketing) — fine if you want UV-C/ionizer theater, but for dust, pollen, dander, and smoke the C545 outperforms it AND gives you WiFi/app control + Alexa.
Also watch replacement filter costs — Brondell filters aren't cheap and the platform has way less aftermarket support than Winix.
Pass. Get a C545 instead.
