Great great router. Skookum for a trim router. Easy to use, powerful, not that heavy (still kinda heavy) and this is the lowest price I've seen in a while. It regularly hits sales prices at $123 from my anecdotes.

Get the dewalt, this is quality. I haven't met a modern day professional using craftsman power tools.

Tool only. So it depends on how much you want to spend. I suggest getting a brand that you can use batteries on other cordless power tools. Personally I am a Milwaukee guy because of a tool that they had first years ago. Now I have everything Milwaukee so I don't have to get different batteries and charger for every brand. Dewalt is just as good so I would just go with the one for better pricing on other cordless tools. It's always one is a litter better at this and one is a little better at that.

In the woodworking community, this router is seen as one of the better ones to get. I chose Dewalt because of longevity of the lineup and the amount of 3rd party stuff you can get for the 20v lineup. For example, there is an edge guide for this exact router for like $12 on Amazon. There are lots of peripherals and even full tools that you wont find with less popular brands.

Can anyone recommend a beginner router bit? General purpose and something to trim out the area on doors where the rectangle plate goes (normally a chisel is used)?
