NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From the renowned author of Project Hail Mary and The Martian comes a "propulsive" (NPR) tale of science, suspense, and humor—a heist story set on the moon.

"An action-packed techno-thriller of the first order."—USA Today

Jasmine Bashara never signed up to be a hero. She just wanted to get rich.

Not crazy, eccentric-billionaire rich, like many of the visitors to her hometown of Artemis, humanity's first and only lunar colony. Just rich enough to move out of her coffin-sized apartment and eat something better than flavored algae. Rich enough to pay off a debt she's owed for a long time.

So when a chance at a huge score finally comes her way, Jazz can't say no. But engineering the perfect crime is just the start of her problems—because her little heist is about to land her in the middle of a conspiracy for control of Artemis herself.

Trapped between competing forces, pursued by a killer and the law alike, she'll have to hatch a truly spectacular scheme to have a chance at staying alive and saving her city.

Jazz is no hero, but she is a very good criminal.

That'll have to do.

Artemis is nowhere near as good as Andy Weir's other books Project Hail Mary and The Martian. For $3 I would say pick it up and give it a go, but don't expect greatness

I enjoyed Artemis as much as Weir's other two books. Artemis IS different than The Martian and PHM...more of a heist-gone-bad set on Earth's colonized moon. I'm simplifying, but like all of Weir's work...I couldn't put it down. And now, the directors/writers of PHM are active engaged in bringing Artemis to the screen, which is great news.

I would rank this a distant 3rd in the books of the Martian and Project Hail Mary. Andy writes primarily one character in all three books, it doesn't fit in Artemis very well.

The Martian - great book and movie.
Project Hail Mary - great book and movie.
Artemis - not so much. If you still are curious enough to read it, consider the library.

Artemis is a good book, but not at the level of PHM or The Martian. I seldom read fiction but I enjoy Weir's books, Artemis included. I think it's a decent deal at $3 if you haven't read it and like the genre. I'm curious how the screen adaptation would be and who would play the characters.

It's the type of book that's easily forgotten about. After I read the synopsis, I realized oh yea I read this a while ago. It was just ok

I agree. It's the weakest of the three. Project Hail Mary is by far the best, a great book.

I'd check out the book from the local library first and decide if it's worth owning. It wasn't terrible but definitely a "read once and done" kind of book for me.
